I always chose to believe that Shining Armor was really a massive dick and that he was marrying the princess as part of a shotgun wedding, and that he volunteered to be Chrysallis's little bitch since she promised to help him get out of the marriage. But now we find out he was more interested in Chrysalis despite all that she did because Cadence is an evil ex.
There's a really entertaining but disturbing fanfic in there. A kingdom brought to it's knees by a monster emboldened by the affections of a stupid knight.
