a combination of water colors, graphic pen and coloring pencils on a 5 x 3 1/2 sketch card. been doing some reading of my ROM back issue collection lately and obviously feeling sentimental. i still hate IDW's ROM in name only reboot, long live the 80s.romspaceknightart.blogspot.comβ¦

Good stuff old friend,Β seeing the Torpedo(i have the original mini-series from the mid-70's in one of my footlockers somewhere)reminds me of the young Japanese girl Michiko whose wearing the armor now as far as i know shes still with the New Warriors,Β Fell in love with her immediately when some No-Good tried to say something disparaging to her and she jammed her fist into his mouth and "warmed up" the turbos!Β A Supersonic punch through the mouth ain't workin' pally!Β ZIP IT!

Hey it's been a while good to hear from you. I'm always glad to hear when my fan brings back nice memories of the good ol days before Marvel started fucking up the Rom legacy in the early 2000s with the final insult coming from idw's horrible reboot. Thanks heaps pally!Β I'll hunt down those last issues of New Warriors,Β I used to buy it back in the 90's on and off when Namorita and Silohette were on the team,Β stopped after Nita's mutation in to a Blue-skinned Atlantian!
Supremely bummed when Atlantis turned her out after they found out she was a clone of her mother Namora!

Your colors and shading are getting richer I think. Are these watercolors? Pastels? Colored Pencils you add water to? Every bit of that card is filled with color, shading, mood, mystique⦠Maybe it's because the card is a small area to fill or maybe your skills and passion for art is growing. The image is really much more full than some of your past works. Hardy an empty white space to be found.

You're correct I've made a point of steering away from empty backgrounds in recent years. The medium for this piece are watercolors, fine point graphic pen and some coloring pencils. Thanks for the detailed feed back it's nice to be talking about Rom again and ofcourse I'm taking about the true Rom and not that idw crap.

thanks man, haven't done anything for a while nor was i planning to. but something just came over me last night and hear we are. i think it's combination of having a real chill work week so far and feeling nostalgic about classic ROM.Β
