Description My fifth Apple idea is about the Mac Pro, Apple's most powerful workstation computer. Although I would want one, it is a steep price gouge to upgrade from my iMac, especially if you want bigger hard disk space or better graphics. Some people say that they don't even need 32 GB of RAM or 4 TB of memory. Here is how I think Apple should addres this beast.

First, I would make three configurations available for dual-core, quad-core, and 8-core Intel processors respectively. Some people are quite fine with only the "average" dual-core processor and about 4 to 8 GB max of RAM. After all, not all of us are doing scientific computation or anything of that complexity. That is what the quad- and eight-core models would be for.

As for graphics, I would like the ability to plug in any ATI or NVIDIA graphics card I wish, as the current model only allows three different kinds. I would also say they need to support multi-GPU graphics technologies (see Apple idea 3 for more info). These advancements would rev up the tower for gaming, which is too huge of an audience to ignore. Other internal features would be front-loading hard drives and airport extreme built-in (so you don't have to order the wi-fi card as an option). They might also consider a liquid-cooling option, as electronics do better when chilled.

Also, I have obviously changed the chasis, which would sport a more curved look and side vents for cooling the components more. I have also added silver, ruby, jade, sapphire, and onyx (not grey, red, green, blue, and black) for some possible variations. The top two curves on the front are the superdrive slots, which would be Blu-Ray Live-compatible. The lower one is a slot that would open up to reveal 4USB and 2 Firewire Ports as well as the power button.

Tell me what you think.
