Chapter 26 – Ditched.I was left in that spot, confused, bewildered.
"Some girlfriend, " Adam huffed.
My eyes welled with tears, "Shut up!" I yelled, shoving him and stomping off in the opposite direction of Red.
He fell back on the couch, wide-eyed, spilling his drink on the cushions and swearing under his breath. After a moment of leering down at his beer-soaked jeans, he stood and went into the bathroom. He stayed there for most of the night.
I crouched down behind one of the couches, out of sight to anyone that wasn't looking for me. I covered my eyes and sobbed, wondering why Red had left.
I didn't think I had done anything wrong. My intoxicated mind couldn't come up with any logical answer. I just sat and moped until I saw her through the crowd. She looked upset, running around everywhere, searching.
I suddenly became mad.
If she's looking for me… let her look.
I crunched up more behind the couch and peeked out, watching her.
She yelled my name questioningly in someone's face. They shook their head and pointed to the bathroom.
Red stomped over angrily to the door and pounded on it, "Hey Asshole!" she screamed through the crack, "Is Brooke in there with you!?"
The door swung open, Adam stood there in his boxers.
"No! your little bitch isn't in here with me! And if she was she'd have a dent the size of Kansas in her face for what she did!" He screamed back, slamming the door before Red could respond.
Red fumed, her face turned crimson and she kicked the door with great force, sending a crack ripping down the middle of it.
Megan stomped over and pulled Red towards her, "You're gonna be paying for that!"
Red pushed her out of the way and walked briskly towards the couch I was behind. She bumped it and the wooden back crushed me against the wall. I let out a tiny squeak of pain, not heard over the booming bass of the music.
I got a sick feeling in my stomach as Red disappeared through the front door. A short time later, to my surprise, Chris entered. She looked worried. She talked to Megan for a while, she wasn't much help. She looked around for a while and sighed, then walked back out the front door.
So they're leaving without me…
I realized then that it was my fault.
Stupid girl…
