Haha, yes!! Whenever CF is on the stage, you are sure to know it! I just love how over-the-top and brash his character is. xD
Thank you so much! I tried something new when doing coloring, but I think it paid off nicely. I usually think my coloring is the low-point of all pictures, I think this one came out acceptably.

Exactly!
Yasvmw ! Sweet, I think it paid off as well
. Ah, really? How come? To be honest though, I think my coloring needs work

It's always the hardest part for me to do. I really wish I knew how people blend and color so smoothly (or painterly)! When I color, I feel like it's all haphazard and super messy, like a child's drawing. :C And things don't blend at all so the shading looks all fug and choppy. xD
I wonder...do you feel like your photomanipulation background helps you with your artwork, because you have a knowledge of filters and layers and stuff and how things work? I haven't seen too many people who do both (draw and photomanipulate), so I wonder how the cross training works for you.
I used to do graphics all the time (like icons, banners, and such), and I feel like when it came to finally doing digital drawings, it helped a little during the post-processing phase, like I don't think I would've ever used textures and some of the filters and color tools (like selective color, gradient mapping) without that graphical background. :3c

It usually is , but it's what brings it to life the most eh? I know there are a good number of tutorials that can help with that and I can look them up for you if you wish. What program do you usually use to color your artwork? Do you use a tablet or no? Do you use certain tools to blend in the colors? How many colors do you use for shading, midtones, and highlighting? Lol it's funny I'm asking these questions when I barely have knowledge on the matter myself
. Hmm some filters or tools can help with that, or you could always go for a rough coloring style like Vector or vexel art.
Well actually I started off with drawing first, but I barely colored until I started digitally coloring my work. It took a while before I even knew about layers (did everything on one layer for a while) and filters, but I eventually learned it through coloring my artwork digitally. I don't remember how, but that got me started on Photomanipulation. Because of my previous knowledge it made it a bit easier, but still had a lot of trail and error along with a multitude of tutorials/advice. But I did learn some nifty things while experimenting with photomanipulation that I could use with digital coloring (like the burn/dodge tool, textures, gradients, ect.). Does that answer your question?Β
By the way, have you ever gave photomanipulation a try?

Thank you!! I always try to look up tutorials on here or watch videos, but I still just can't seem to get the pieces to connect as to how people get things to look so nicely. I just see or read how they do it, and I try it myself, and it just looks so fug. It doesn't click. :C
And yes, that definitely answers! I think it's cool how learning Photoshop opened the envelope to exploring more and more things, leading up to that. I've never given photomanipulation a try! I LOVE looking at it and looking at tutorials for it and such (I even have a tutorial book on it
), and I had a graphic designer friend who was all into photomanipulation...but I never tried it myself. I think it's so cool how people can blend so many sources together making it look so effortless, and I can't imagine how it must be like to imagine something in your mind and see it come to life.
But I always look at all the work that goes intoΒ it, and I find it so daunting... I barely use Photoshop because the program itself is just so complex, I just balk thinking about even where to begin with that stuff. O.O
I use Paint Tool SAI for all my drawing aspects, and then just use Photoshop to do post-processing like cropping and adding all the filters and color fixes and stuff. And I draw with a tablet. :3 Paint Tool SAI has brushes for everything like Photoshop... No matter which one I use, from airbrush to watercolor to oil water, I just cannot grasp the concept of shading smoothly at all.
Even with layers.

Yasvmw ! Hmm maybe it's just something you have to practice on a lot. Maybe you just need a lot of trail and error until you become satisfied with your coloring skills? Do you have any friends that could help teach you their coloring techniques? I'd offer my help, but to be honest, my coloring isn't that great
. I can totally help with photo manipulation though
. I may not be that good in it, but I think I'm good enough to give some pointers/techniques here and there.
Good . Ooo what is the book called? Ah, at least you have a friend that can help you with it if you decide to give it a try
. Well Photoshop is probably the best program to do photomanipulation on. the only other program I know that does well with photomanipulation is GIMP, but since you already have Photoshop, it's best to just use that one. Of course your friend may have some other alternatives as well
.
Ah, I hear that is a superb program when it comes to digital art . Ooo what kind of tablet? I hear SAI's only true competition are Manga Studio 5 (cheap, only like $50 without discount) and Krita (free), although both of those programs have better comic book applications (of course Manga Studio 5 is the best if you compare those 2). In fact, I'm making a list of free software and websites that are handy and art is a part of that list (sorry if I already told you this before). Hmm have you tried shading with gradients? They are usually quite smooth. Unfortunately I can't find that tutorial I used to have of it
.
