Mannerisms: Hawthorn is typically quiet, not used to the company of others. Due to this, she appears to most as stand-offish. She doesn’t normally engage in conversation unless something is needed of her for the pack. Most times, her emotions are kept in check, but failed hunts leave her with much frustration. Her stride typically holds purpose, and her head is held low, always seeking out prey scent.
Physical Description: Build - Hawthorn is lean yet fit, built for endurance and agility.
Scars - One scar runs along the underside of her belly from a tumble Hawthorn took over a rocky ledge. There are a few others but they aren’t visible through her fur.

- Impulsive
- Quick-Tempered
- Unforgiving
In Depth:
Loyal - Although it may be difficult to reach Hawthorn’s heart, the reward is her undying loyalty.
As a young pup, Hawthorn’s father worked himself to starvation, providing for her and her mother. His loyalty to them is a trait Hawthorn admired, even if it may have led to his early death. After Hawthorn’s half-sister Thicket was born, their mother became increasingly indifferent towards Hawthorn’s very presence. Despite this, Hawthorn provided her mother and Thicket food and protection every day since she became a young adult, just as her father had. Her loyalty to them, especially Thicket, only wavered when their mother found another mate who asked Hawthorn to leave.
Receptive - Hawthorn may be the perfect ‘teacher’s pet’ by listening, learning, and doing without too many questions.
Due to her previous pack’s ideals, Hawthorn did not receive the typical training of a wolf pup. Instead, she was taught to scavenge and steal. However, Hawthorn always dreamed about the thrill of the hunt. As she grew, she took to watching other predators like foxes and coyotes, learning from them how to hunt voles and rabbits. It wasn’t until much later that she attempted hunting large game when she came across a pack in her travels. She watched them from afar, and attempted their tactics when they weren’t around. Hawthorn had to learn quickly, knowing the pack would eventually discover her and chase her away.
Hard-Working - Without action, the pack starves, pups die, and others invade.
Hawthorn knows what inaction looks like. Her mother was the very image of lazy and complacent, something Hawthorn is determined not to be. Watching her father wither away while her mother was perfectly capable of helping him scavenge for food sickened Hawthorn. To this day, her father’s death haunts her, and so Hawthorn has vowed to work hard to survive, whether it is just for herself or for others.
Determined - There’s a fine line between head-strong and stubborn, a line that Hawthorn dances between quite often.
Due to her hard-working nature, there is almost nothing Hawthorn will back down from, even if the task is too great. She will try and try again until exhaustion or injury. While this might seem like a positive trait in most cases, as she completes tasks with swiftness and diligence, Hawthorn has found herself taking on too much and forgetting to ask for help. Her determination is valiant, but sometimes pig-headed.
Independent - Help is given to those who ask for it, however, Hawthorn forgot to ask.
Without a father to hunt, a complacent mother, and a younger sister needing a proper provider, Hawthorn didn’t have a choice in this matter. Independence kept her and her family fed. Now older, this is a trait that has stuck with her. Hawthorn has done almost everything herself since yearling-hood, and therefore does everything herself now. It isn’t that she doesn’t want help, it’s that she doesn’t know she can ask for it.
Adventurous - Always looking for something new to learn, Hawthorn ventures off often.
Hawthorn learned much through her adventures as a yearling. As one who is always seeking knowledge on how to better herself as a wolf, Hawthorn is prone to wandering away unprovoked. On many occasions, her adventures have been fruitful, or at least, thought provoking. Fewer times she returns with scrapes and bruises, but she has been warned her adventurous spirit may be what causes her to find her end.
Impulsive - Action over thought.
Hawthorn is a doer, not a thinker. Simply put, but accurately stated. Within her life, she has had to do much on her own. Wasted time is wasted energy, and so she goes for it. This on more than one occasion has brought her into scrapes with other wolves and predators in her time. Whether it’s a new adventure, a learning opportunity, or even a fight, she simply does it all, not really thinking about the consequences.
Quick-Tempered - Failure is not an option and only results in absolute anger.
Hawthorn is usually very much in-control of her outward emotions. To most, she may seem focused or calm. However, if she fails a task, or comes across something she seriously dislikes, Hawthorn is like another wolf. Ravenous and unwavering in her anger towards what has caused the outburst.
Unforgiving - ‘Fool me once, shame on you. You will never have the chance to fool me twice.’
Although life has left Hawthorn a tad naive to some things, she doesn’t easily forgive once wronged. This all derives from her mother. Hawthorn has seen what she assumes is the worst kind of wolf, and therefore will never forgive her mother, or anyone remotely like her.

Pre-Group History:
Hawthorn was born into the Depths of the Lunar Sanctuary. As far as she knows, she was the only pup in her litter with no other siblings. Her father, Winslow, doted on her as a young pup. Hawthorn barely remembers those times now, filled only with the haunting image of the skeleton of a wolf draped in black, matted fur wandering lifelessly into the treeline for the last time. Heather, her mother, barely paid him any mind in life or in death. The stoic she-wolf was indifferent to Winslow and even Hawthorn, seemingly cold and heartless. When Hawthorn’s father died, her mother was forced to look for food, but instead of hunting, she stole meat scraps from a pack of sled dogs nearby.
This went on for a while, until Hawthorn was about a yearling in age. Her mother then announced a pregnancy. One of the sled dogs was the father. At first, Hawthorn remembers excitement. Loneliness had seeped into heart after the loss of her father, and so the idea of siblings brought her joy. Heather wanted Hawthorn to do all the scavenging, foraging, and border patrols. Their territory was small, but this was a huge task for a wolf of only a year. Hawthorn had asked for help then, but was only met with her mother’s outrage. The she-wolf claimed that Hawthorn was useless, lazy, and ungrateful. Hawthorn didn’t want to be any of those things, and it wasn’t until much later that she learned her mother was projecting. And so…Hawthorn obeyed.
Thicket was born then, a half wolf and half dog. Hawthorn believed her to be very pretty. Just like her father did with her, Hawthorn doted on Thicket. The young pup stole Hawthorn’s heart, but Heather grew jealous.
When Hawthorn finally reached the age of two years, everything changed. Heather had found a new mate. A gruff and burly male wolf with a twisted maw. His eyes burned with the hatred of his heart, and his unrelenting stare made Hawthorn nervous. Thicket didn’t like him either, and had told Hawthorn she wanted to leave. They never got the chance. Hawthorn was exiled by the male and her mother the very next day. Thicket however, was not allowed to leave.
Alone and betrayed by her own mother, Hawthorn traveled south. It was during this time that she learned how to hunt larger game. Friendly loner wolves helped from time to time, and Hawthorn often found herself stalking packs and watching their movements while they hunted. However, she learned very quickly that hunting big game alone was neither easy nor safe without a pack behind you. Most packs chased her away. Some dispersal males showed interest in her, but Hawthorn didn’t know then nor does she know now if that is something she wants. A family.
Then there was Yarrah. Yarrah was a yearling pup that had separated from her pack during an abnormal blizzard. Those few months Hawthorn spent helping Yarrah find her pack were the best and worst of her life. It was a piece of Hawthorn’s life she wishes she could forget, even the good times. In fact, she dare not speak of it to anyone.
Heartbroken, lost, and hopeless, Hawthorn continued to wander. Hunting was no longer a focus nor a concern. Walking was the only movement Hawthorn could do in her state. And so she did. Hawthorn walked day and night feeling her skin hugging her bones, her eyes dry and drooping, and her heart empty.
Hawthorn didn’t notice when she walked into Onni territory, or even that she had dropped to the ground, delirious and drained.
