I don't wanna talk about how many days it took me to draw this. I'm just happy I finished it before the premiere of RWBY Volume 4.

Weiss has been my favorite character from the start, or rather my favorite heroine (Neo holds a special place in my heart as a villain and overall). I thought about how she must be feeling now in Volume 4, after being reigned in by her father after the fall of Beacon. I imagine she'd be forced to put on a mask, smile even though she's lost the friends and the freedom that meant so much to her. Despite her outward facade, inside she'd be crying and reaching for her freedom still. I had wanted to put a reflection of her old outfit on the ground beneath her to add a mirror theme to this as well, but I couldn't get it quite right and decided to scrap the reflection. My current skill level isn't quite that high yet.

Overall I'm happy with how this turned out and that I only had to use a reference for her hand. The light beams gave me more trouble than what they were probably worth but I'm glad I kept them. The only thing I'm unhappy with would probably be the background, only because I feel like it needed something more and I couldn't figure out what that more was.
