Here's the deal - I LOVE this movie!I watch it every Christmas and every Christmas I get just as badly obsessed with it.
It's weird, fun and silly ... you know, 90s level of silly ... but I can't help but adore it so badly I see hearts!
And the nutcracker reminds me so much of Rody and even the voice fits, that ... well this happened!
So here you go with Rody the nutcracker prince and naturally Piper as lovely Clara - in one of my favorite scenes from the movie.
And the reason this picture wasn't finished last year when I actually started it ... well you'll see soon enough...

Wow! Looks like I’m critiquing another of your pictures on the same day! And it’s another cute fairy-tale picture too! What a pleasant coincidence!
I haven’t seen this film before, but I can tell that the prince looks like a sort of toy – maybe a tin soldier or a life-size mannequin? Anyway I think he’s cute, especially with that red nose and cheeks~~ 
I see that the characters have slightly more contrast than the background so that they don’t blend in, which is good! But my eye wanders a bit from the characters because there’s so much red (especially with the tin soldier). Your main problem might not be in contrast though, but instead in Value. If you don’t feel like cutting back on the red colors, then another good tactic I find is to darken the corners of a picture to help add more composition. I know I said you added some good contrast, but perhaps add a bit more?
I can’t find much more wrong with this picture. It’s actually quite good! But one small nit-pick are their shadows. They appear blurred and vague somewhat. I always find that shadows directly below a character are the hardest. But a good tactic is to adjust it slightly off in one direction and then use their silhouettes to create the shadow. Then you can blur or paint them a bit. It’s a nifty trick for adding shadows
Anyway lol… the beauty, grace, and cuteness of this image still takes my breath away! I mean, what could be a better classic children’s fairy tale than a tin soldier coming to life and becoming friends with a charming young lady? And what better way to capture its essence than in this dance? I like the idea that toys may come to life and have feelings too

And I highly recommend this film - it's a silly 90s animated movie with a loovely atmosphere and romance in it. The boy is a toy indeed - a wooden nutcracker.
If you watch the movie and see this scene... it's very pink. I added way more contrast and value to my drawing
compared to the references, but I do see you point. His coat should be blue (it has two different colors), but I just loved the red one better
and I kinda like how he blends in his surroundings.
I often use that method for casted shadows, but it wouldn't work here. The setting is supposed to be a bit dreamy
with not a specific light source so too specific shading would have ruined the idea. I rather had them blurry and not taking too much attention.
Add some lovely classic music to that description ... and you've got loads of god vibes to deal with ;D

Oh I see. Many times when I try redrawing a scene from a film or game I make it better, but some still say I could have done it better. It's happen a few times actually 
Ooo dreamy! I like that! And I understand what you mean. My pictures are usually sharp and crisp, but your paintings are more blurry like many paintings are. And that's okay because its a different art style

The bright, warm, vivid lighting profoundly adds sweetness and harmony to the pair (I'm not sure if they are a couple or not). Although there's minimal shading, I find the piece to be lovely. The soft shading adds a delightful sense of a tender moment. Staring into each other's eyes adds the feeling of being in a faraway dream. This is adorable piece and I love the cuteness given to the atmosphere and the subjects.

Well, in the movie they are or most likely end up to be a couple ... and as for my stories, Piper and Rody do have a thing for one another for sure ;D
I wanted the piece to appear like from the movie, so I tried to make it look balanced and not overworked with shading while maintaining the bright colors
