Description
Two Tree Point, Resolution Creek, and Adventure Bay, located on Bruny Island in Tasmania, are breathtaking natural paradises that captivate visitors with their pristine beauty. It also has a historical connection with the British explorers of the South Seas and the Tasman Sea.Captain Tobias Furneaux first visited the area in 1773, naming the bay Adventure Bay after his ship, the HMS Adventure. Furneaux and his crew frequently visited the area, where they collected fresh water from a creek that flows into the bay.
Captain James Cook visited the area in 1777 and was so impressed by its scenic beauty and plentiful supply of freshwater that he named the creek Resolution Creek after his ship, HMS Resolution. He also gave the area the name "Two Tree Point" due to the presence of two prominent trees that served as navigational markers.
In 1788, Captain Bligh also stopped at Adventure Bay for fresh water.
Today, the area is still as captivating as it was when it was first discovered by British explorers. Visitors can enjoy the stunning scenery, go for walks or hikes, or simply relax on the beach. Two trees still stand at the confluence of the creek with the bay, though it is not certain whether these are the original trees as seen by 18th-century British explorers or replanted successors.
