[link]So, this girl takes artwork from nintendo, and makes it into a PC background (or maybe a phone background... I dunno.) for her friend. Okay, great. She puts it up here. I tell her it's copyright infringement, and she says "No thank you, I made it myself."
...And then reports me for... something. I'm guessing harassment

If we had competent administrators, 95% of the rule-breaking art here just wouldn't be able to survive.
How's college?

I know, I just think it's silly that people report me/other people for 'harassment' when we haven't even said anything rude.
And it's not bad. Not great. I mean, all my classes are pretty cool (except history, the teacher has the thickest Indian accent ever.), and I obviously don't have parents around telling me to do stuff.
Only problem is that I'm shy as all fuck IRL, so I'm having trouble meeting people
I'll get it eventually, but for now I'd still like to go home. It's only been like 5 days; it's felt like weeks.

I've had already had two teachers with thick accents. Those are extremely common in college because of the demographics of people with PhD's and whatnot.
Shy, huh? You'll have to work past that; now that you're in college, shy doesn't cut it. Do you eat at a dining hall in your college? Find another person of your same gender eating alone and ask to sit next to her (or him? I think you're a girl). Talk to her and shit. Get to know her.
Join some social groups at your college. Most colleges have an LGBTA group that you can join; those are always fun.
Also, you should definitely get to know your neighbors in your residence hall.
In fact, your first two-three weeks are when people are most open, so get crackin! NAO!
Has it hit you that you finally have free will, yet? It will, sooner or later. You'll know it when it hits you. That was a heavy moment for me.
I'm heading back to college on September 2nd, and classes start on the 6th. I'm so excited.

I'm pretty sure I'll get used to him and such; it'd be easier if the room weren't so dark and he'd actually turn some lights on so we can see the board... But, it looks like most of the work we'll be doing is reading and writing. I can so do that.
I know shy doesn't cut it, but I just haven't but thrust into a place with absolutely nobody I'm familiar with since... middle school, I guess. I've met a few people, apparently I'm going to dinner with some people tonight. One of the girls is cooking for us... She hates the school food (which is funny because it's delicious.)and apparently only eats salads... I can't just have a salad for dinner. I'm probably going to get a Meatball Marinara from Subway after that. ANYWAY THAT'S OFF TOPIC.
Over the summer, there was a program that freshman could go to for a month, take 2 classes, and generally just meet other freshman. Since I was sick for 3 months straight, I couldn't go; so I basically got fucked there. Most of the people here already know each other, and there's nobody really sitting alone.
I don't think it has hit me. Mostly because I wasn't tied down too much at home. I think once I start making more friends and stuff, it'll hit me since I won't be told to leave/go to bed at a certain time.
What year are you in college, anyway?

I'm entering my sophomore year.
I also had an opportunity to "meet other freshmen". I took it, and it absolutely sucked. I didn't make any new friends. The only people who were making friends were the ones going to get drunk every night, and needless to say they didn't last very long once college came around. Maybe my college's was different though.
If everyone is sitting together, then find a casual group of three or more (two is a bad number to join in on) and get to introducing yourself to them. Join their possy. The easiest way to get to making friends is by meeting your neighbors, though. Really, knock on their doors and stuff. You'll be surprised how amiable people are during the first few weeks.
It might not hit you until a couple of weeks from now. I was never tied down either, but not being tied down just means that you weren't doing a lot of stuff that needed your parents' correction. Free will means two things. First, all of your decisions are made without secondary approval. That's huge. You probably don't realize it, but even at your lax home, I'm sure that you at least had a habit of saying, "I'm going out for a while". That's a form of secondary approval. Secondary approval actually happened all of the time when you were back at home- you didn't realize it.
Second- and this is more abstract- you can by your own accord weigh short term benefits with long term benefits, and short term consequences with long term consequences. Because no one is hovering over your shoulder, there is no outside force telling you how to act. You don't have to take into consideration what your parents might think when you choose to do homework- and that in and of itself will probably make you want to do homework even more, because the fog has lifted and you will be able to see, unbiased, what will happen three months from now if you do or do not do that homework.
You'll hate the school food after eating it for months on end.

No, your school is not different. I haven't slept well for a few nights due to the screaming of drunk people out in the hallway or out my window. I can hear everything from the floor above me through my vent. It's painful. Pretty sure the girl upstairs is a slut.
And I think it might be a little easier if I didn't have my own room. My dorm is set up apartment style, so there's a little living area, but my roommate and I get our own bedrooms. I shouldn't stay in my room so much, but it's hard because it's fucking available. It'll be great once everything's full swing and I actually need my own room to sleep and avoid health issues from not sleeping, but until then, it's kind of bad.
Everyone on my floor pretty much is a douche. I've met them all from doing floor-wide stuff, anyway. There's a couple girls, and my roommate, who are okay. Once clubs start up and stuff, I think that'll go smoother. Then I'll meet people who won't think I'm crazy for liking video games and anime. Not that that should make me crazy in the first place, but the girls here seem to think it does.
And yeah, I've already been doing more homework specifically because I don't have people yapping at me to do it 24/7. It's not like I didn't do it just to spite my parents or something, it was just that hearing about it so often made me not want to do it.
I probably will hate the food eventually, but due to my 7ish choices of places to eat on campus, I think I'll be okay for a while. The girl making salads has only been here a few days, like me, and has already decided that all 7 places to eat suck.

Most of the screaming drunkards will drop out. Just have patience. You'll be shocked how they just drop left and right. In the meantime, there should be a Residence Advisor or something of the like that's supposed to be a hall monitor. Se's your version of the police, and she can tell other people to be quiet if you ask her.
Although, the person who lived directly above me also had daily, noisy sex. That wasn't nearly as bad as the person down the hall who played dubstep, loud as fuck, with his door open.
If everyone on your floor is a douche, then yes, clubs are your next best option. Try to aim for three clubs to be in, give or take one.
I also had a room setup like that. It's probably more unusual to be eternally out and about instead of huddled in your room. Though you are right, you should probably try to refrain from huddling in your room. Try tagging along with your roommate a bit.
Have you visited your college library, yet? The library is the perfect place to study. If your college is anything like mine, there should be a floor where it's customary to have absolute silence. It makes your homework that much more expedient, especially if you have ADD like me.
"I've already been doing more homework specifically because I don't have people yapping at me to do it 24/7."
It's counterintuitive, but yes, that's the power of free will. I'm glad that you said that, because anyone who does not start grasping at free will is probably going to drop out. That's the only reason why the dropout rate is so high.
Did you know that you, as a college student, you can get Amazon Prime shipping for free? Free two day shipping on anything sold by Amazon. You just need to sign up with Amazon. It's somewhere on the website.

Yeah, I'm waiting for that. The only problem is that there's ONE girl from my old school who is a screaming drunk, but I actually like her :/ She's nice, actually.
Haven't had to deal with loud music yet XD Mostly because I tend to have my own music going on my headphones if I'm alone. The RA is cool (and a bitch to the douches), but she can't actually do anything unless you call security to make a noise complaint. Which I'll do if this keeps going for another night or two.
I am going to tag along with my roommate tonight. We're going to a hypnotist show that's happening tonight. Tomorrow night's a movie. I'll go to that, too.
...I've already done all my homework for Tuesday... Well, besides studying, I don't really think you 'finish' that until after you're tested on it or something.
Really?! I have no idea what I'd buy on amazon, but I'm sure there's something I'd want. The school here gives you so much free shit, too. We get free rides to airports, free shipping to other places, etc. Some kid got an Ipad yesterday. There was this 'vegas night' where we got fake money, and could gamble with it on Roulette, Craps, Blackjack and some other thing. He won a ton of fake money and got the I-pad with it.

FYI, there's a pretty decent chance that you're going to flunk your first test or two, just because you underestimated their difficulty. That's just as a forewarning, and might not happen. If that happens, then don't freak out. I got a D on my first test in Religions of the World and still aced the class.
"I am going to tag along with my roommate tonight. We're going to a hypnotist show that's happening tonight. Tomorrow night's a movie. I'll go to that, too."
Yep, if you're invited to social events and whatnot, as a general rule of thumb you should take them. If you don't, your sanity might start falling through.
Maybe your experiences will differ from mine here, but decide beforehand whether or not you will drink alcohol if you're offered any at an event. I know that a hypnotist show and a movie are not venues for alcohol, but it's typically the impromptu event that is organized five minutes after the initial, planned event. Don't be surprised if you leave for something at 7:00 pm and arrive back in your dorm room at 1:00 am.
You don't want to make a decision at the last second. A students drink, on average, 2 and a half glasses of alcohol per party. It's a social lubricant, and is great for calming down after school work. On the other hand, you run the risk of getting caught and possibly going on probation. That's part of free will.
Do you have any pepper spray? I'm serious.

Well, I've aced my first quiz, anyway, but haven't had a test yet. I got a bunch of shitty tests in high school and did just fine in class, so I don't think I'll panic too much.
I am going to (most) social events, unless they're really late at night because I need my sleep.
I already know I'm not drinking anything. Like, I can't. I am so underweight that I don't think my tolerance will be more than 1 bottle of beer, if that. Plus, if I drink even a little more than I can handle, I'm getting sent to the hospital because my wonderful heart condition will start acting up and they'll have to get the defibrillator. Not that I really mind that; the drugs they give me when they do it are awesome. >.>
I don't have pepper spray YET, but my mom is mailing me some, apparently.

Actually, I think that you already told me about your heart condition. I must have forgotten.
Let's see, what else does a new college student need to know? Ah, yes.
Did you bring medicine with you to college? I had forgotten to do that when I first arrived and greatly regretted it. You need...
Acetaminophen
Cough syrup
Nose congestion pills
Tums
Small band-aids
Medium band-aids
Large band-aids
A gauze roll bandage
Ointment
A box of tissues
All of that can be found at your college hospital for a low price. I might be forgetting something.

LOL trust me, I brought all that AND MORE. My mom was so worried. She got me so much medicine it's not even okay. I don't know where to put all of it. But I'll love it when I get sick.
