I suppose this is kind of unrelated, however, whenever I see this piece, I can recall what has happened with the tsunami, and how regardless the chaos, the sea can bring us unity and peace around the world. a reminder that we are not just citizens of different countries with borders and languages, but people who we are together in this vast world doing our best to live. and also these flowers in the hat would be a discrete symbol of sympathy for those who are not here with us.
great use of color combinations to create a successful contrast, and the texture of the skin is something I want to learn from you.
lD also, maybe you might not have noticed, but below the second bird closest to the end of the skirt, I can see a rebel blue brush stroke there my friend, that might be something you might want to look into. other that that simple mistake, the entire piece is a refreshing experience.

I'd like to think outside the box and say she looks a bit boyish. I know she's a girl, but there's not many differences between males and females outside sexual ones of course.
Anyways, I like how blue is the prominent color in this piece. It has a dreamy and mellow tone to it because blue is a "cool" color. Even the warm tones on the girl's hat are subdued a bit.
