I think both sets of stairs ought to be parallel to the lines in the ceiling. But somehow, what is more obvious to me is the angle at which the girl is standing. Shouldn't we be looking down at her forehead? The way she is now, I think she'd be leaning way back; and that just sounds dangerous on escalators. :/

The perspective is strange/off (in the stairs on the guy's side, mainly), but it's actually good. The picture pulls together to be kind of surreal - or just off enough for you to notice but aren't quite able to tell what's bothering you. It works here, and leaves you feeling a bit off-balance. Love the girl's face, too.

It's the angle of the steps which is weird. It looks to me like the guy should be going up and the girl down, but the stairs are the opposite, like he's going down and she's going up. I'm thinking it's the second one that you meant, but yeah, the perspective is off a bit.

The painting itself is good as usual, but you're right about the perspective.
The figures should be standing perpendicular to the surface of the stairs, but they're leaning away from the picture plane (he's leaning down, she's leaning back). In other words both figures should appear to be leaning steeply toward the viewer.

I think everything is right except the girl at the "front" of the picture. For her to be seen standing like she is, she would need to be floating forward in the air. The viewer must be looking up on her (as you would when standing on the step/s under her IRL) for it to seem correct.

Great image. I'm with Amir-whisper - the slightly warped perspective actually works well for this image... though I wonder if the angles are weirder than the perspective as such - the steps don't seem like they're quite at the right angle for the characters to be standing on either set of sides and be oriented the way they are. It's almost like she's standing on the top surfaces, but he's standing on the sides, if you see what I mean.
But again, I don't think this really detracts from the picture. It's like seeing her has just thrown his world into a slightly odd perspective.
