A telepathic species, they served humanity for a time and a group of them wound up being influenced by The Beast on an asteroid near a black hole. Eventually, the Ood were freed by The Doctor and Donna. Years later, they would have nightmarish visions of The Master and the return of Gallifrey i.e. The Ultimate Sanction by Rassilon, the latter of which was thwarted by The Doctor. Shortly after, the Ood sang as the Tenth Doctor regenerated into the Eleventh Doctor. It has been a while since the Ood played a major role in any story...
