Description
A birthday gift for a friend's relative. I wanted to do something for her, and this is her favorite cartoon. At first, I wanted to do a piece inspired by Theophile Steinlen's famous "Chat Noir" poster. But it turned out everyone and their mother had the same idea already, so I went with one inspried by Afred Choubrac's "Au Joyeux de Moulin Rouge". I would've preferred to have come up with original poses for Ladybug and Cat Noir, but was pressing for time, so unfortunately I copied their poses from the cartoon show. That said, I had a lot of fun imitating an 1800's style French poster, and combining impressionist coloring on the superheroes with comic book stippling in the background. And best of all, she loved her gift.
