Blaze is a swift, elegant princess from a dimension similar to Sonic's own, living on a planet largely dominated by giant oceans with small islands dotting the space between larger continents. Not only is she royalty, but Blaze holds the responsibility of guarding the legendary Sol Emeralds: artifacts with great power over nature itself that must remain away from unbalanced hearts lest her planet be thrown into turmoil. She herself was once unworthy of their full power, but despite her troubled past and the mental scars her duty had bestowed upon her, Blaze was able to grow and mature into someone capable of commanding even the Sol Emerald's ability to cross dimensions.

Blaze had been travelling away from home for a while to study some old islands she'd once visited alongside Sonic, Tails and Marine (the Raccoon) - the latter's home of Southern Island being among her destinations. Curiously, however, Plant Kingdom Zone and the entire island it occupied had been cast in a clearly unnatural winter... Such a tropic environment wouldn't normally even get snow during the actual winter, let alone enough to blanket every surface and force the unaccustomed animals into hiding. During her investigation, Blaze finds herself drawn to a swirling gateway, hearing music on the other side...

Trivia:
- Blaze has not been to Sonic's dimension since his last birthday, and (unlike in the IDW continuity) she has yet to find out about the events of Sonic Forces, let alone the recent Rabbithole Phenomena.

- She keeps in regular contact with Marine, though the palace she lives in is on one of the larger continents far away.
