Jaden-3 was once an esteemed warlock, tasked with a top secret mission to research the Vex and find a way to stop or even reverse what they have done to the different planets. After the event of Cayde-6's death, she joins the fight to avenge him and in the process, loses her light in a similar way - but not her life, thanks to the rest of her fireteam.

Afterward, she is stripped of her task by Ikora and is given little more than a librarian status within the Tower walls. Shamed and grieving, Jaden manages to slip out after finding a breakthrough in her research. She manages to obtain an intact vex vessel, and attempts to hack into it. However, without her light as a backup, Jaden loses control and manages to get out with a partial vex corruption hardwired into her.

With some of her sanity sacrificed in the process, however, Jaden manages to obtain an advantage that no other guardian could ever claim to have: She is part of the Consensus.
