Description Marvel character Deadpool. A workflow for: fav.me/dco7do1

I The pencil sketch. This time tried to make this one already rather finished, as I decided to skip the inking part completely.

II After scanning moved to Gimp, turned all white transparent, and painted the base form of the character with solid red. As no clear ink lines, this phase actually had to do pretty carefully, as it pretty much defines the final lines of the characters silhouette.

III. After the main character marked, defined all other basic colors on the image. Once again, rather time consuming, as wihtout the inks, the actual lines had to be defined here. THis phase was done while keeping hte pencil work transparent and visible. On this image, it has been turned off, as it wasn't much used after finishing this phase.

IV Added the main colors for background, and marked the highlight and shadow areas on a separate layer. Here I just used black and white. This layer was just used on the next phase to select proper areas.

V Actually coloring the highlights and shadows. The layer made in previous step was used together with the layer from III to pick the areas where each main color is in shadow or light.
Once this was done, I still drew few in-between lights and shadows here and there (like forehead, high points of several muscles)

VI At this point noticed the strong light from the door must be accompanied with equal shadows, so added them by selecting straight areas and painting them dark.

VII Finishing touches. Noticed the square cropping was kind of  crowded, and that the actual image has not much on the corners, so expanded a little with black background, added a circle on one layer, and made a black mask with equal round hole to limit the image.

That's pretty much it. As usual any comments, critiques etc. are warmly welcomed
