On a homeward bus stopped at a red light on York Ave at Memorial Blvd.

Here at the northwest corner thereof, on the west side of Memorial Blvd, paralleling the Cenotaph, stands the statue of Sir William Stephenson , Canadian soldier, airman, businessman, inventor, spymaster, and the senior representative of British intelligence for the entire western hemisphere during WWII. He is best known by his wartime intelligence codename "Intrepid".

And one of two major influences for British writer Ian Fleming , himself having worked for Britain's Naval Intelligence Division during WWII, to years later create his most famous and celebrated literary character James Bond .

The other influence was another WWII warrior which Fleming from time to time observed on his watch: Serbian-born MI6 /Abwehr double agent Duško Popov .
