Description
I had actually made this stamp over a month ago, but after reading an article last night, I was inspired to post it.I read about an Afro-German woman named Jennifer Teege, who unfortunately found out that her maternal grandfather was Amon Goeth, the infamous Nazi depicted in the movie Schindler's List. (Her mother was his illegitimate daughter, and she had an affair with a Nigerian student.) She was horrified to find that out, and acknowledged that her grandfather would have killed her if he saw her. She decided to accept it, though - instead of ignoring it or letting it overshadow her life. I was glad that she did because I think that was mature of her.
The reason why I made this stamp in the first place is that you should accept your heritage. You could be descended from an evil political leader or murderer, or belong to an ethnic group that was responsible for a genocide, but it doesn't mean that you're evil. It's not your fault that your ancestors owned/tortured/raped slaves or killed Jews, Armenians, Circassians, Native Americans, or any other group that were victims of genocide. You are not responsible for any bad things that your ancestors might have done. Even if it was someone in your recent family history, like a grandparent or even a parent, who did wrong, it's still not your fault. You are not them.
You might not like your heritage, but no matter what, you cannot change who you are.
