Yep, here we go. ERA pointing out how much Ed Jr. is just like his dear old dad.
And hey, elements of Free Guy. Yes, I'm playing a little bit with that canon.
So, the background story so far (after thinking about it for about ten minutes):
After the events of the movie, Encom acquired what was left of Soonami's assets, including what was left of the Free City server. After going through it, Sam Flynn noticed some similarities between his father's source code and the source code created by Walter McKey and Millie Rusk for their "Free Life" program. Turns out McKey grew up reading some of the books written and published by Sam's father and those are what inspired him to be a programmer (and led to him basically creating his own version of the grid and ISOs on his own). Sam decided to provide financial backing to McKey and Rusk for their Free Life server and is thinking about letting them in on his secret project.
However, Ed Dillinger Jr. managed to get a hold of the Free City source code and used bits of it to create his "New World" project, not knowing what kind of craziness he has caused and that it is about to bite him in the ass.
