portrait of choi minsik from one of my top movies, OLDBOY. painted with egg tempera on a gesso-ed claybord.worked on it a bit with photoshop, but only the lighting for a more dramatic effect, and to add the signature on the bottom left.
oldboy is a great movie guys, go check it out.

looks good dude...pretty much what eric said. i like how his hair came out, and the overall rough texture of this piece matches his character and expression well. good use of the scratches, it definitely adds a lot.

yea, when i sanded the gesso before i painted i only had really rough sandpaper so it created a lot of deep scratches. a really neat effect. and i scratched certain places on top of the paint for highlights also.

wow you did such an awesome job. I love that texture you achieved there... it's like some scratching is it??? Or- is that just the way the brush makes the lines on the thick paint, and the light hitting the bumps? Either way, it is super effective for this portrait- you captured his energy so well! Love that hair and the eyes.
