saffi is dressed as lum and beezy is dressed as ataru moroboshi,
both characters are from a japanese manga called urusei yatsura (those annoying aliens in english speaking countries)
urusei yatsura got an anime adaptation and lum is a very popular character in japan
the manga itself is considered the original magical girlfriend parody story
so basically it's a sci fi comedy series about a teenage boy (ataru) who is extremely unlucky
he beats the oni invaders (lum) in a challenge and he "accidentally" proposes to her
and that's where the series starts
