Airhead is © *Fairgo . Artwork is © 2010 Farlow Studios. All Intellectual Property Rights Reserved.The commission called for the character Airhead dancing with a jellyfish. This automatically made me think of the classic movie Anchor's Aweigh and the scene where Gene Kelly dances with Jerry Mouse, thus his pose and demeanor. Also took inspiration from Fred Astaire.
Took awhile to make because of my tendonitis.
Sketched and colored in Photoshop CS4, inked in Painter 11.

Thank you Daggerpoint! This is an amazing piece of work. From the photographic quality of the entire composition, to the perfectly depicted expression on his face, this one really makes Airhead come alive. There is a reason for everything in this picture, but as art it's best left to speculation. Meanwhile I'm just happy to stare at it for ages. Very happy with this.

Very imaginative! very expressive! Very original? Not only will I tell you that I like it I 'll tell you why. It makes you waonder what is real or in his thoughts> the backgroundmakes us want to believe that he's underwater yet at the same time it says that he's not and the string tying him down makes it seem like he's swimming! So you begin to wonder if the jellyfish is real! creating a sense of wonder! and making the viewer ask questions therefore making the viewer participate in thought. Well that's my two cents see ya around! By the way the cabbage patch girls are calling me?

Nice work, man! While you usually do pictures of gals and they're great, you really brought a lot to this one--I like the allusion to the Gene Kelly flick and the detail is just tremendous--you give this a real reality and that helps a lot to sell the pic.
