It's Rainbow dash and Tank flying around and having fun. The two of them were positively cute together in the Just for Sidekicks episode, and since I hadn't drawn RD in a while, this was the perfect subject for a new painting.I'm glad to have this out of my system, as it was a pretty intensive effort detailing and smoothing out everything. Getting all the feathers on the wings right was a bit of a nightmare, reminding me once more why the show takes a more stylized approach to ponies. The final image is built up from 14 layers, which is a lot more than I usually have. It turned out to be a good decision to work with multiple layers, as they made some late adjustments a lot easier.
I'll also admit that I am pretty happy with the clouds. They're not necessarily super realistic, but with this style they do look like a nice interpretation of what you may see in the show. Only one or two of my previous pieces feature any clouds, but I think these are my favourite so far.

These shadings are so detailed that i first mistook it for a snapshot from Source Film Maker. And hearing that you did this with Gimp and a Bamboo tablet, gives me hope because my brother just happens to own such a Bamboo-Pad. I always thought that one needs expensive Soft- and Hardware to draw such things, but it doesn't seem so. Maybe I should start too?

Wow! It's beautiful! I think the title says everything about this art - it's quality is amazing! This particular work seems to be different than all your others (the previous one also seems to have this "feature"). All the shadows are hard, concrete and subtle simultaneously. It's not an abstract vision of shadows, painted with a paintbrush. Not everybody can do that and it looks great. I've seen it a few times and it makes me wonder - how to create this effect?! Just look at her spine (by the way, it's awesome!), her ass being perfectly "a hole" and her hooves (just look at them! Gosh!).
I forgot about Tank - he looks very good too! His expression is somehow empty-headed and his right eye looks surprisingly flat (it reminds me a random texture of an old game), but the rest is even better than "great"!
I think Rainbow Dash's eye needs longer eyelashes - they are very subtle and it's difficult to spot them, making an impression of her being more male than probably intended.
Huh, you've got a reason to be pround of those clouds - they turned out superb! They are very...hmm...puffy and have a lot of depth.
I like this drawing very much! You did a great job on it! I see you're starting to create really really high quality stuff here and that's great.
