"There's… nothing I can do. I can't escape this hole. I can't escape this trap…" Hayate mumbled to himself, shivering in his room. "I… don't even now what I AM anymore…" he mumbled to himself, shuddering. His mind traveled, remembering the reason for his confusion.

"Hayate, this is my daughter, Keily. I can't take her to work with me, so can you watch her for me?" Kara had asked him, crouching as she held out a young catgirl with chocolate brown hair and eyes.

"Of course, Kara! We're the best of friends!" He'd replied, grinning as he patted the little cat girl.

"Mommy, why can't I go to work with you? I can hide in your tummy!"

"Because your constant wriggling distracts me hun. I'm sorry," Kara said to her, shaking her head sadly as she stood up. "I'll be back for her after work, ok?" She said, waving to me and Keily before she strode off into the afternoon light.

Hayate grinned for several moments while Keily watched him before he broke the silence. "I have NO clue what to do, so why don't we go see a friend of mine?" He asked her, reaching a hand out to grab her wrist.

Almost immediately, his hand went ice cold. It felt like it was burning!

Keily stared at him blankly, not really understanding. "What's wrong?"

Hayate blushed, holding his pained hand as he turned away. "C-Come on, let's go!" He shouted, catching Keily off guard as he trudged off through the deserted streets.

"What ails you friend?" Asked a voice, which Hayate recognized to be Lassic's.

"I… don't know. Something's weird… my body reacts to Keily so strangely… it doesn't feel like I'm real…"
