One nice thing about .44Mag is that you can also shoot .44 Special. Much easier to control for a follow up shot. Has about the same ballistics as a .45 auto round.

Model 29 came in one caliber.
44Mag but you could fire the 44Special light load.
Most everyone who ever fired one did it once......then put it away swearing to never shoot it again!
Even R. Lee Ermey took a shot nearly hitting his head with the recoil. It was on his Locked and Loaded show.
I have fired it several times. But I am a fan of recoil!
My wrist was sore for several days.
The same design was the venerable Model 27 in 357Mag. 4 inch barrel. Highway Patrolman model. The 29 used the same frame just heavier for the 44Mag.
I carried a Model 27 for 10 years till replaced by our Sig P226 in 357Sig. Now we are moving to the P320 in 9mm shooting 135 grain Critical Duty +P Hornady.
Nice rendition of classic revolvers. The never go out of style.
My backup off duty is a S&W 360PD.
