Description
This is the Swordfish torpedo bomber manufactured by the now defunct Fairey Aviation Company, also served as a level bomber, observation aircraft and reconnaissance aircraft.This plane type saw service largely with the RN (Royal Navy) in WW2 and took part in the attack on the Nazi vessel known as Bismarck, 1 delivered a Torpedo to the rudder disabling it and leaving it as gun fodder for RN vessels.
It was flown by a crew of 3, pilot, observer, radio Operator who also served as the rear gunner.
The Swordfish is powered by 1 Bristol Pegasus IIIM.3 1,000 hp 9 cylinder R,500 radial piston engine.
