Contrary to popular belief, I think MP-05 Megatron is THE BEST Megatron mold hands down (The best G1 mold at least, if you're not a die-hard G1-er like me).
He's the most realistic Megatron out there in how his firearm mode's proportions are true to the real weapon, and thus, when he transforms, his robot mode is also realistically proportioned. And that's cool. Yes, he has some kibble (like the trigger and trigger guard halves on his legs and the handle panels on his hips) that's inaccurate to the G1 animation model, but don't forget - the designers took a lot of liberties with the animation and a lot of it cannot be recreated in real life. MP-36 Megatron is very show accurate, yes, but his alt mode suffers greatly - in how he's all panels (making him look broken, similar to Classics/Henkei Ironhide and Ratchet) and it's got goofy, unrealistic proportions that kinda rub me the wrong way. Also, the transformation isn't accurate - Megatron's head SHOULDN'T form underneath the barrel, and his chest is fake (instead of being made of the actual barrel section, like MP-05 Megs, MP-36's is actually a flip - out piece that merely EMULATES the barrel. That's called "cheat-forming" and I really, really hate it)
And yes, I know MP-05 is very brittle, but that's mostly due to materials (mainly die-cast). Recreate him in all - plastic (like the I-Gear down-scaled version), add him some extra joints and make some of the connections tighter, and BOOM, the perfect Megatron toy. A customizer like John Malamas (A.K.A. Jin Saotome) could definitely do that.
