No, frankly, Star is to blame, for being carried away by anger at her mother's betrayal and blaming the magic of everything to cause this.

Please remember that Star didn't really have much of a choice, it was either cut off the source of their enemy's power or let their friends be victims of mass genocide.
And you need to remember that the curse of the sword that was used was also slowly killing several of her friends as well. While destroying all magic does seem a little extreme, at this point she didn't really have any other options and time was of the essence.
Plus, even near the end it's indicated that not all magic was completely destroyed. Case in point: mythical creatures like the mermaids and even Pony Head and her family are still alive... so it's possible that she only destroyed a certain source of magic but not magic in its entirety.

Like I said before though, since Certain Magical creatures such as Pony Head are still alive that means not all the magic might be gone. And it's unlikely that humans would go to war every magical creature on the planet, the hostile ones sure, but not all of them. Especially since both dimensions have been merged permanently.

While this is the logical outcome, I think it's pretty obvious that Humans would beat Mewmans easily with Monsters coming out somewhat on top but would have a fighting chance. In my fanfic, I had to give the governments of the world advance notice of this event happening to prevent this outcome.
