Elsa is smart like Twilight Sparkle, she is Kind and a bit shy like Fluttershy, and she is strong and she loves her younger sister like Applejack
In my theory was an alicorn in 2014, but i decide made her a unicorn (because unicorns have magic)
Anna main 3 ponies theory
Anna is funny and excited like Pinkie Pie, she is generous and beautiful like Rarity and and she is brave and she like faster stuff like Rainbow Dash.
In my theory was an alicorn too in 2014, but i change her intro a pegasus (because, in the movie she said than she is ordinary than she not has magic like her sister)

I like your idea is for these two for the most part. How their personalities would fit into MLP is well speculated, but their species, In my opinion, should be earth pony. Elsa, along with Anna, would be born an earth pony, but would ascend to an alicorn when she became queen.
P.S.: I just noticed that you said that you changed her into a pegasus so she wouldn't be magical like her sister, but pegasi have their own type of magic. Earth ponies do, too, but it's ordinary.
