Silly, slightly dark comic I made for funsies as always. Sunset should really look into differences in food before she tries them. Dimensions are funny like that. I had fun trying to make panels 1 and 2 look really cute, and then make it contrast with what is a pretty morbid joke all things considered.
And yes, marshmallows, at least at one point, do have hooves from various animals in their production, including horses. Though there are marshmallows that use gelatin substitutes I believe.
Also, Pinkie being distracted by an eye floater does sound pretty in character I think. 
Silly background stuff in panel 3! And I love making Sunset's shirt emblem change in every panel. Especially doodle Sunset.

Gelatin isn't made primarily of hooves but it's extracted from the skin, bones, and connective tissues of animals such as domesticated cattle, chickens, fish, horses, and pigs. It's also in gummie bears, fruit snacks, ice cream, jelly beans, yogurt, jell-o, wine and some beer.

I never said it wasn't better or worse, I was just clarifying that it wasn't JUST the hooves.
It's not ALL wine that contains gelatin, some do and it's more or less just part of the fining process. Beer and wine require fining (or filtering) if you want it to be more or less clear. See, wine uses fermented grapes and beer uses fermented grain. Now during the process of brewing, some particles of the grain/grapes/hops/other additives get taken along with the wort (unfermented alcohol). This causes them to have a cloudy or hazy look. This can especially happen with the yeast. Even when you get to the bottling process some of these things can get in. This isn't always a negative for some types of beer (perhaps some wine too) but there are methods of undoing this hazy look. Filtering is common, there are some hops that can help alleviate this effect, and sometimes gelatin is used. Basically what the gelatin does is that it clings to these particles and drags them down to the bottom of the fermenter during the fermenting process. This is called "flocculation", where after the yeast uses up all the sugars that it made alcohol with, it clumps together and sinks to the bottom. This helps give it that clear appearance. But again there's no 100% guarantee that none of these particles (including the gelatin) will remain in the fermenter and not get into the bottles of alcohol.

You'd pretty much need to hunt your own food to cut carmine out of your diet in this day and age. But it's not like carmine is really any more disgusting than all the dead things you eat.
