Beautiful work Daniela. When I was at middle school, it was compulsory to use a fountain pen instead of a Biro to develop our hand writing technique

Beautiful piece of work, not just the technique, style and composition, but equally the use of negative space..

I really love this piece. I keep coming back to your gallery, forgetting this gem is here, and then I want to favorite it but I can't because I already have.
I just love so many things. The interesting representation of the pen being in grayscale while the "drawing" is in full color; both suggesting a separation of two dimensions but also leaving the viewer to question. Is the pen supposed to represent reality or not? And if we assume that, either way, the pen symbolizes a vehicle for creativity, more questions arise: Is creativity coming from the pen or leading to it? Is it creating it? And isn't that an interesting conundrum, creativity creating what creates that which is creative. This is almost like some kind of implied M.C Escher waterfall going on here.
Then there's the slightly warm hue of the shadow under the pen. I'm trying to decide if that's actually there or just a figment of my imagination. I prefer to think that it's there intentionally, because, just, oh.
Not to mention the beautiful contrast between the graphic, flat quality of the hair and the realistic rendering of the face. And then, all of this, paired against the starkness of a white background. Perfection.
Sorry, long admiration is rather long. And a bit wordy if only to explain why I want to favorite this again and again and again but instead I just admire.
