''What is it, my queen?!'' A panicked king squealed in worry.
''THE CUB, IS COMING!!''
''WHAT?!''
''I'VE GONE INTO LABOUR, I - ROAR!!''
Ahadi ran to his queen and made sure she was okay.
'The cub isn't due yet, surely?'' Ahadi asked.
''Not yet! It can't come yet, Ahadi, please!! I'm not ready! Make it stop!!!!'' Uru grimaced.
''I'm sorry baby, I can't -''
Ahadi was promptly interrupted by a contraction ripping through his queen's fragile body.
He nuzzled his wife to calm her down. The rest of the pride were out hunting, so it was just the King and Queen - Rafiki too was visiting his family just near the desert.
''Ahadi!!!! THESE CONTRACTIONS HURT!!!!''
''Deep breaths, my love. Deep breaths.'' Comforted Ahadi.
''Heeee, hoooooo. Heeee, hoooooo.'' Uru breathed through her contractions, husband by her needing side.
Ahadi had no choice. This cub was coming right now, and he would have to deliver his child himself.
''You'll be fine, my queen. You both will. Breathe gently, gentle breaths. Breathe with me, like this...Heeee hoooooo.''
Uru's eyes looked genuinely full of worry as she looked into her king's eyes.
''You're beautiful, Uru. My princess.''
Uru smiled, about to speak. However, she was interrupted by another contraction. Ahadi quickly checked the pridesisters' whereabouts, nowhere. They must have been hunting closer to the borders.
''AHADI, I - ROAR!!!!''
''I'm coming, baby!''
Uru‘s contractions were getting stronger and more frequent. This cub would arrive very soon. Ahadi unintentionally made Uru chuckle when her waters broke and he jumped backwards.
''Ahadi...'' Uru‘s voice was tired and weary.
''I'm here, baby. Deep breaths. We're so close.''
Uru pushed with every contraction. She used all of her might.
''URU!!!! I can see the head! Our cub...a head of golden fur. Oh, Uru, beautiful! Last few pushes, last few baby!''
Uru continued to push, using all her might.
''One more should do it!!''
Before they knew it, a wet ball of golden fur was at Uru's hind.
''Oh Uru. Look...our cub is so beautiful!'' Tears of happiness were streaming from the brave King's eyes, much like the Queen's.
''Is our baby okay?'' Uru asked wearily. Ahadi picked up their child and placed him with Uru. She licked him anxiously. The cub rasped a huge intake of it's first breath, before beginning to mew and wriggle.
''Ahadi, it's a boy!!''
''Oh, Uru! I'm so proud of you! I love you!''
''I love you too, - Ahadi! Help!! My stomach!!!'' The queen screamed.
''Uru...there's another cub! Push honey, push!''
Uru pushed again. This time, two cubs slid into the world, dark furred like their mother.
''Uru, congratulations! But these two won't let go of each other.''
They were conjoined, from one's eye to another. Almost inseparable. The king and queen loved them anyway, regardless of their imperfections.
Rafiki walked into the den, shocked to see three cubs before him. ''Hoho, congratulations,your majesties!''
Rafiki set to work on the youngest two. He separated the two cubs. However, scars would be left on both the cub's eyes, and on their tummies. Some scars would stay, some would fade. Rafiki cleaned the blood.
''One boy, one girl. Your majesties, I'm sorry. Your daughter isn't breathing...and I can't get her to.''
The king and queen were saddened, though life goes on. They buried their little girl and the circle of life continued, with two little boys, and the family would be stronger than ever. Mufasa and Taka would bring the Pridelands happiness.
''Look after our little girl, Rukiya, Great Kings. She's going to love her grandad Mohatu.''
