Even after death, he was damned to forever walk the earth as a wandering spirit. He spent many centuries slumbering, hoping that if he just tried hard enough that he would never wake up again.

Eventually decided to do something with his life and was active in the 1920s onward. Whenever he wanted to change his persona, he would just disappear for a few years (literally ghosted), and then reappear with a slightly different style and name.

He’s in Harthaven now because he’s bored and is looking for something new.
