Description Full view probably necessary.

// EDIT:

Well well well. I always loved this photograph. But originally I had been unable to remove the noise. Until the wonderful ~Araken-Starway suggested a magical tool by the name of "noise ninja" that might be able to help me along.
I downloaded the trial, and was absolutely thrilled with the results. So today I bought the license. And with pride I present the new, improved, dream-like version of the shot - thank you for viewing!

Depends on how you define "pro", no? Per dictionary it's someone who makes money with it. So sure, a lot of pro's live off editing more than of the actual photographing. But then (at least in Switzerland) we use "pro" in another sense too; we call someone a pro who's just waaay more skilled and experienced than the crowd. This is what I'm referring to. I expect a "pro" to be so virtuous at using his camera that he can live fine without editing; and if he chooses to edit anyway it's for some reason other than "correcting flaws".

But I've been accused of being perfectionist many a time. So my idea of "pro" may be out of this world - yet still. Settling for anything else (in my opinion) just ain't good enough.

Have you ever noticed how much the thumbnail resembles an orchid?
I find that fascinating!
The full view offers all the neccessary details, and the right shutterspeed to show the motion!
I love it!

I never acctually noticed the thing about the thumb before. I just always thought: Well, you can't really tell what it is on the thumb ...

Love your view though. Thanks for sharing!

Btw.: There's another dance shot in my gallery, and many other photographs.
Consider this an invitation, too.

Wow, this is amazing. The shapes and the motion....your choice of colours is really affective too.

truly wonderful capture, congrats dear, i know very good how hard is to shoot moving objects and subjects but what i love the most is that the dancers having no faces, that makes the whole scene almost abstract...
adorable

Thank you very much.
Tell me bout it, shooting dancers at an open competition is about the most challenging. They don't replay any scene for you, there are so many couples on the dancefloor you normally don't know which to photograph, and when you've chosen one there might just be another dancing in the way.

It's very graphic, full of movement, and a great use of the space in your frame. Captures the essence of the dance extremely well.
I know how hard it is to photograph the subject; I've visited the World Championships (Blackpool, England) quite a few times, and shot many rolls of film there, and I'm happy if I get two or three decent shots on each roll. There are a few in my gallery if you're interested to see.

I'll defintely come check them out.
Ah, I wanna come see Blackpool one day. Preferrably when ~danceart competes, as it is his ambition.
I frequently find myself in a dilemma when trying to shoot at competitions. In one way, I want to get as many good shots as I can. On the other hand, when behind the lense I only focus on one subject, one couple and am so into them and their movement that I completely miss the rest of the competition. But when I get some good shots out of it, I'm satisfied in the end.

You deserve the bows so take several. As said previously a good photo is a mix of many elements but only the photographer who grabs the winner could have done it. So luck or skill, perseverance or a grab shot, the eye behind the lens gets all the credit. After all, you don't have to post the ones that didn't work!!

Great shot and beautiful colors!

I'm glad you like it.
Yeah, I love it too. It was the only capture I got of this couple, and I just couldn't stop congratulating myself to the luck I'd had lol

It's incredibly difficult to shoot moving targets, especially in dancing where there are so many variables... a lot of it is instinct, a bit of it is luck, and sometimes it's perserverance... often photographers shoot hundreds of pictures to end up with a handful of useful ones!
