They're epicly good friends. Infact, this picture looks very cannon, I don't even know if its suppose to be a pairing. Often the taller one will hold an umbrella over the other, and etc.

if you decide to get into this I recommend reading the manga instead of watching the anime because they miss a lot of the central plot and only have the smaller story lines. I didn't enjoy it as much.

I tend to read the Manga's more the animes are fun but they often dull it down sometimes or take big masses out. There are some manga's that are rather adult but when they come into anime form they make them simpler ><

Don't know if it's in been answered but I just stumbled across your comment!

It's not Yaoi ^ ^

Basically the glasses guy (Watanuki) can see spirits/ghosts and works at a shop run by The Time/Space Witch (Yuko).

Watanuki has a huge crush on a girl, and the other guy in the picture is a classmate (Domeki). In the beginning Watanuki hates Domeki but they eventually become friends and help each other out by running errands for Yuko.

It's also related to theTsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle series as it takes place in the same universe but I prefer holic :3

The idea is that the XXX represents things people want, or are obsessed with, becoming a "holic". The most obvious example I can give is an alcoholic.

I believe it's as an unknown amount. It's based around a shop that grants wishes for something else of the equal amount, so it ranges from a highchair to the thing you treasure the most.

tsubasa and xxxholic criss-cross with each other very often, but one did not spawn from the other.

Tsubasa isn't really a spin off series as they were both created at the same time with the intention of running along side one another. It's more of a sister series.
