Description This is my book, that I’ve been writing for almost a year now! I’m only going to be uploading a few chapters at a time. Comment for any suggestions you have, and I hope you enjoy it! I’m pretty attached to this book, and I enjoy writing it.

Clans/Tribes:

Fishtopia-  they have Scales, they can swim very fast, has ruffs behind their ears and ruffs that look like small wings on their backs, has gills for breathing underwater found on neck and underneath eyes, webbed feet and webbed hands help them swim, special slick material for clothing, any colors of fish, they live in Fishtopia which is an underwater kingdom, they have a monarchy, they are good fighters, they are known for sending spies, when fighting they use special tridents that each of them have that look different than the others, their tribe symbol is a dark outline of a round fish colored in and a circle around it with a circle close to it lines connecting it to the other big circle.

Butterfly Village- they have Wings that match their butterfly type, can fly but only for an hour because it takes up a lot of their energy, colors of butterflies, antennae that can sense vibrations in the air, powers that some have more than others which is levitating objects, eyes glow when using their powers, live in treetops of rainforests, good at fighting and like to surprise attack, their main weapons are spears they made out of wood and stone that each of them have carefully crafted to match them and no spear is like another, their tribe mark is the same as the Fishtopians, except has a round colored in outline of a butterfly instead of a fish
Rabbit Hollow- Bunny ears that give them super good hearing, rabbit tails, super fast runners, can jump up to four times their size depending on their power level, live in an underground cave garden lit by many lanterns, weapons are bows and arrows that every Rabbit Hollowian has that’s unique, fighting skills are very good and are centered around war and education, techniques are fighting very fiercely and are a strong tribe/clan, then jumping over opponent and shooting them from behind with their bow, their tribe mark is just like the others except a colored in outline of a rabbit’s head instead of a butterfly or a fish

Snake Forestinians (known as a myth)- they have Snake eyes that turn into slits when scared, threatened, looking closely at something or about to attack, they have snake scales, known as best fighters and the tribe of darkness and blood, have venom that they can shoot from their fangs, have snake scales that are matched to their snake type, sharp eyes that have thermal sensors, sharp fangs, super good fighters and known to have wiped out a whole tribe (unknown), weapons are their venom and they carry around super sharp spears none like the other weapons, best fighters and their fighting techniques are unknown, due to the myths they’ve won every battle they fought, super scary, and no one has seen them, but some people claim to see glowing eyes like snake’s in the forest, their tribe mark same as others except has a colored in snake outline in the middle

How the tribes came together- Humans and animals were caught in an explosion. Nobody knows when, or how, but it happened. Merging humans and animals was dangerous, but somehow it worked out well, and created the tribes. Fish and humans- Fishtopians. Butterflies and humans- Butterfly Villagers. Rabbits and humans- Rabbit Hollowians, all on the same, magical continent, Hybridia. But it was once foretold that another tribe was created, Snake Forestinians, who lived in the depth of the Pine Forest. But nobody seemed to see them, so it was never supported that they were a created tribe. It was also said that there was also another tribe, but they quickly were wiped out by the snake hybrids. But some believe that they are there, waiting to attack. They are known as the hunting tribe. The war tribe. The tribe of darkness and blood.

-Chapter One-

Emma is a Butterfly Villager. Her butterfly pattern is the Monarch Butterfly. She was in history class at Brimstone Academy when she heard the news about the attack. Rabbit Hollowians had attacked a small settlement outside of Fishtopia.
Emma knew a lot about war and how all of the other tribes fought all the time. She knew all about their weapons and their special abilities, but she had never actually met someone outside of her tribe.
“You don’t need to.” her brother Burnet, who was a burnet moth pattern had said when she mentioned this “You’ve got me and our tribe. All we need to do is focus on our studies and fighting skills. At least, that’s what mom says.”
Emma’s mother was a very strict person. She also was a Monarch print, just like Emma, and she had short, black hair. Emma and her older brother were used to being very tight on all of their studies and their training.
After History, Emma went to her Science class. When she arrived, her friends were waiting for her at their table. She sat down next to them and class started.
Two minutes before Science class had ended, Emma started packing up her school supplies, and when she finished, almost immediately after, the school bell rang loudly, and the class was dismissed, and it was finally the weekend. Emma said goodbye to her friends, Hawk, Luna, and Lily.
When Emma walked out of her school’s doors, she met up with her big brother Burnet and they walked home together. They liked to walk the way home because they wanted to save their energy for their training lessons. Flying was fast, but it would drain the energy right out of you. And plus, they could only fly for about an hour without needing to land.
Since their tribe was a butterfly hybrid, they needed to rest. Butterflies don’t need to rest because of the energy that they saved when they were caterpillars, but since they were mixed with humans, called hybrids, they needed energy in order to fly.
Once Emma and Burnet reached their home, they flew up to the top of the tree that their house was placed on top of, and landed on a platform right in front of their house’s door. Emma’s house was just like everyone else’s, a high treehouse, with a wooden platform, high roof, and their tribe marking carved deep and neatly onto the door.
The Butterfly Village was a very beautiful place. The trees were very tall, and sunlight seeped in through them, reaching down all the way to the forest floor. Down below on the ground, the villagers had buildings for different jobs such as healers and schools. Everywhere you flew, there were flowers and nature everywhere. The sky was busy with flying villagers, and the streets and market below them were crowded.
“We’re home Mom!” Burnet announced, as he and Emma swung open the wooden door. From a platform at the top of their house, a tall woman with short black hair and beautiful leaf green eyes flew down gracefully and landed right in front of the two siblings.
“Hi!” Emma’s mom said, “Now hurry up and finish your homework so you can go to your training lessons soon. You don’t want to be late!”
Everyday after school, Emma and Burnet had training. It started about an hour after they returned from school. Emma didn’t have any homework to do, so she went to her room to read a book.
She loved reading. One of her favorite subjects was history, and she loved to read about the other tribes and what all of their backstories are. She knew all about the other tribes. But Emma was particularly interested in one tribe. Everyone told her that it was just a myth, but she likes to learn about the Snake Forestinians. The Snake Forestinians were a myth about a fourth tribe. They lived in the deepest, darkest part of the Pine Forest/Dark Forest and are waiting to attack.
Emma seemed to be the only one in her tribe that actually believed in these snake hybrids. Everybody else told her that it was just a story, just a myth that never actually happened in real life. But Emma believed in them no matter what anybody told her.
As she sat down on her bed, she reviewed the tribes and their abilities. The Rabbit Hollowians had super jump, super hearing and they are super fast runners. Their fighting techniques are very easy to remember: They will shoot their bow and arrow, trying to distract you, then they will super jump over you and try to shoot you from behind. All you have to do is make them believe that you are distracted, and when they jump, hit them in midair with your spear. They also liked to do sneak attacks, just like the attack just earlier at school on a settlement outside of Fishtopia.
The Fishtopians were kind of unpredictable when fighting: they would just swing their tridents around, or throw it at you, which is surprisingly effective. They are very sneaky and like to send spies to watch the other tribes and figure out their weaknesses.
Emma’s peaceful reading was disturbed by a knock on her door. Without an answer, the door swung open, revealing her mother.
“Hey, get your training outfit on, we leave in ten minutes.” her mom glanced down at her open book “Are you still reading about that silly myth again? Don’t believe everything you read in books, Emma. Those creepy snake hybrids are not a thing, and don’t let your mind believe that they are.”
Emma slumped.
“Hey,” her mom said, kindly “I’m just trying to protect you. I don’t want you believing things that aren’t real. You will grow up to be a smart person. I love you, you know that?”
“Yes, mother.” Emma said, hugging her mom.
“Great. Now, I’ll leave so you can change.” closing the door softly behind her, her mother left the room.
Emma twitched her antennae, feeling for her mother’s vibrations. When she sensed her fly back down to the first floor, she sighed and flopped onto her bed. Training wasn’t her favorite thing, but, according to her mother, ‘you need to be trained well so you can fight in important wars, and have important roles.’
As Emma got changed into her training robes, she noticed that she had about five more minutes before they had to go to training lessons.
Emma decided to practice her special powers. Butterfly Villagers all have special levitating powers. Some villagers have it stronger than others, and some don’t even have levitation powers at all; but it’s pretty rare to not have any special powers in your tribe.
Emma took a deep breath and set her spear down on the floor. She took a step back and took another breath. Using their powers took a lot of focus, and a lot of their energy, even more energy than flying took.
Emma held out her hands, facing her staff. Her hands glowed orange, and her body floated, without even beating her wings. Her dark brown hair lifted up, and she opened her eyes. They glowed a bright, warm orange, and lit up the whole room. The staff rattled, as if debating whether to lift or not.
Emma focused even more, and the staff sprung right into her hands. She caught it, and slowly floated back to the ground, all her side effects slowly fading away.
She collapsed onto her bed. Using special abilities was tiring, that’s why you have to practice them so you can levitate more things, without using so much energy.
When you turn three, your powers are activated, and every Butterfly Villager has to go see the doctor to see how strong their powers are, or will be if they learn well and train.
When Emma went at three years old, the doctor’s said she was a level eight. There are ten levels, one being the lowest level, and ten being the highest level. The average level is five or six. The doctors said that Emma was special, and her powers were extra strong. Emma didn't really believe in this, even though she could use her powers more often, and could do them faster than everybody else.
It was finally time to go to training, so Emma grabbed her spear, slung it over her shoulder, and headed out the door with Burnet.
“Were you practicing your powers just now?” Burnet’s powers were a level five, and he was aware of Emma’s level.
“How did you know that?” Emma said, surprised that her big brother knew that she was doing magic in her room.
He pointed to his antennae at the top of his head “Super vibration air sensing powers, remember?”
Emma playfully punched him in his arm. “Stalker.” she spat at him.
“Weirdo.” he retorted.
They laughed, and continued to fly towards their training center.

-Chapter Two-

When they arrived at training, Burnet and Emma met up with their older mentors. Emma’s mentor’s name was Maple, and her butterfly type was the Rosy Maple Moth. Her wings were a beautiful bright pink and yellow coloring, and she had soft feathery antennae.
“Are you ready to get started Emma?” her mentor asked her, “Today, we are going to review different attacks.”
Emma nodded, and walked into her training room, Maple behind her. The training room was a very large room with wooden floors and a bench on each side of the room.
Review attacks meant that they were going to review different types of situations when an attack is formed, or if the Butterfly Villagers are attacking a different tribe for whatever reason.
Emma’s mentor talked about the different kinds of attacks. But she wasn’t listening. She was thinking about what would happen if she actually met someone outside of their tribe. She thought that getting a Rabbit Hollowian to be her friend might be harder than a Fishtopian. Rabbit Hollowians were known to be super fierce and not very reasonable. There’s also a rumor going around that they were pretty stubborn and hard to talk to.
“Emma?” Emma’s mentor’s voice echoed in her head, disrupting her thoughts “Emma, focus on the lesson!”
Emma snapped back to reality, and realized that she had totally ignored Maple while she was talking.
“Oops, sorry Maple.” Emma said, shaking her head vigorously.
Maple gave her a forgiving look. “How about we take a five minute break really quick. You look like something’s on your mind.”
Emma and Maple sat on a bench on the side of the open training room.
“What’s up?” Maple asked.
“Oh, nothing, I was just thinking about the other tribes and- I know, it’s silly.” Emma turned away. She assumed that Maple was as strict as her mom was about fighting and the other tribes.
“No, it’s okay. You can talk about it.” Maple reassured her.
“I just thought about- what if I made friends, you know- outside of the tribe?” Emma felt weird talking to someone about things like this.
Maple sighed, and her face looked as if she was looking back into her childhood. “I too had that thought when I was your age.”
“What did you do- I mean, if you don’t mind me asking?” Emma had questions, but she didn’t want to make Maple uncomfortable.
“Oh- it’s okay,” Maple said “I made really bad decisions back then, so please don’t do what I did, I don’t want you getting hurt.”
Emma was interested in hearing what Maple had to say, and listened carefully.
“Okay. So, when I was your age, I loved history, just like you do. Back then, I was reckless, and didn’t care if I got bad grades. I would sneak away so I didn’t have to do my training lessons.”
Emma was surprised at this. She always thought that Maple was always really focused on her training, no matter how old she was.
“One day, I had a thought about having friends outside of the tribe. I had friends here in Butterfly Village, but I wanted something different.” Maple said “So, I ran away. I ran to the closest tribe, which is__”
Maple was trying to tell a story while quizzing Emma. Typical Maple.
“Rabbit Hollow.” Emma said, just realizing what Maple had done.
“That’s right.” Maple said “And it was a horrible decision. When I had arrived at Rabbit Hollow, I waited outside of the opening to the cave. Not after long, someone ended up coming out of the opening. I jumped out and said hi. It must have frightened the Rabbit Hollowian, because they knocked me out, and I woke up in their dungeon. They didn’t treat me well, they treated me like an enemy, even though they didn’t know me at all. It was cold and I was hungry there. They questioned me, and threatened an attack on my family if I didn’t give them answers. That’s when I realized that other tribes were not to be messed with. It ended with a group from my tribe saving me and getting me back to safety. They had to fight to get me out, and many people were wounded. That was the day that I swore that I would become one of them. I would become a fighter and protect my tribe, I would help other people and risk my life if I had to and I would mentor other people so they could become great fighters too.”
“Oh.” Emma said.
Emma was astounded by her story. She always assumed that Maple always wanted to be a training mentor, and always was a great apprentice.
“So please, don’t follow what I did, it’ll never end well if you do that.” Maple stood up. “ Okay, it’s time to get back to training. You got a little extra time off.”
Emma stood up and followed her mentor to the middle of the room, and reviewed attack strategies.

On the way back home, Emma thought about Maple’s story and how she ran away to get new friends. Emma was starting to actually consider running away to make friends in other tribes. She wondered if she would see any Snake Forestitians, assuming they were real.
“You okay?” Burnet asked, “You seem a little bit off today.”
“Yeah, I'm just thinking.” Emma definitely did not plan on telling anybody else about her idea to run away as well as Maple had done.
“Hey, wanna go to the park?” Burnet asked. Emma and Burnet loved to go to the park together to play on the obstacle course that was there, and to meet up with their friends and play.
“Yeah, sure.” Emma said “Race you to the park!”
Emma flew fast ahead of him, and he flew after.
“Hey, no fair- you got a head start.” Burnet was gaining on Emma. she laughed. She loved to play with Burnet.
As they flew, Emma saw the park in the distance. Burnet pushed through the air hard, and flew ahead of Emma.
“I’m going to beat you!” he taunted as he got closer to the park’s entryway.
Emma flew as fast as she could, but she was no match for her older brother.
“Aw! I almost beat you that time!” Emma said.
“Hey, you got a head start!” Burnet bumped Emma.
“Come on, let’s go play on the obstacle course.” Emma said, walking over to the other side of the small park. It was weirdly quiet and nobody was in the park.
After they played and talked about their day at school, Emma and Burnet headed home.
When they reached their house, it was already dinner time. Emma and Burnet flew to the table and sat down. Dinner was already on the table, and their mom was sitting at the far end of the table.
“Hi!” her mother greeted them “How were your training lessons today?”
“Great!” Burnet said “We reviewed the kinds of attacks and how to fight better. My mentor said that I’m doing good. Next training lesson, he’s going to practice fighting me and test my skills.”
“That sounds like fun.” Emma’s mom turned to her “ and how was your training session, Emma?”
“Good.” Emma said, shoving food into her mouth.
The table was silent. Emma looked up at her family and wondered why nobody was talking. Burnet and her mom were staring at her, as if waiting for her to say something to them.
“What?” Emma said, her voice muffled from the food that was in her mouth.
“You are usually so talkative at the dinner table.” Burnet said.
“Yeah, is something wrong, Emma?” her mom said, kind of pressuring her.
“No, I’m good, mom. Why does everyone keep asking me that?” Emma got away from the table and went to her room, closing the door behind herself.
Emma was tired of her mom bossing her around. She was tired of people telling her that her beliefs weren't real. And she was very tired of people telling her that other tribes can’t be your friends. And she thought that she had to change that.
That night, Emma made a decision, she would finally get a friend outside of the tribe.
