Awww, poor Disco Bear, everybody seems to hate him XDD Sunny looks so innocent (NOT X3) And the word should be "strangling" rather than "smothering", smothering refers to suffocating because something's blocking your breathing passageways (like a pillow or blanket to your face, smoke, etc.)
