I took this photo in a forest somewhere near ZaΔ·umuiΕΎa, Latvia. I remember the day was very serene, woods being very dense, so it was mostly dark, even at midday. But this little sapling, it had found a spot to grow right where trees gave way to light for it.Related content

I love the colors. They're so cool and mellow and the piece itself brings peace. I love the focus/non-focus in this piece, it brings more focus onto the new plant. I love the lighting, not to bright, but just right the plant itself is beautiful and inspiring in the description, you said that the general area was dark, then, growing in the narrow beam of light that shone through the opening of the elder trees, the youngling was growing. This, in my opinion, symbolizes many things. It could symbolize finding the light in a dark situation, or learning to thrive in dark surrondings.

A beautiful study of growth and new beginnings. I have a friend from Latvia, a truly marvelous lady, and I'd love to visit her home country someday; the Latvians have such a rich culture and heritage. This is a great photograph-- thank you for sharing it with us!
