My headcanon is this:
After the war, with Neji is dead and Guy is handicapped, Team Guy was essentially out of commission. Rock Lee kept on his ridiculous training, but Tenten decided she needed a new direction. Intending to refine her ninja tool control (and find a way to counter Wind Release), she decided to study puppetry techniques at the Hidden Sand Village. Over the course of her stay, she became good friends with Kankuro, who teaches her puppetry in exchange for taijutsu training, and Temari, who teaches her Wind Release techniques, especially the sharp ones.

Shino wandered into Sunagakure one day on his own insect-finding/self-reflection world travels after the conclusion of the war. Tenten was just about to start building her own puppet, so Shino suggested that she make it in the shape of a winged insect. Tenten had fun filling the resulting creation, Hachi (蜂）, with as many sharp things as possibile, except the back, where she would ride on and throw sharp things from。

While browsing the Sand Library, Tenten came across several scrolls on the theoretical uses of fuinjutsu. These, she discovered, were looted from the Land of Whirlpools after its destruction in war. From these documents, she developed techniques to seal within scrolls....other scrolls. Which means more sharp things, less weight, and more sharp things.

Now Tenten can activate her scrolls without manually unravelling them, organize all her sharp things into into specialized scrolls, put those into a scroll, ride around on insectoid made of razors, and be a badass motherfucker.

The technique displayed above she named "Rain of the Iron Butterfly" (铁蝶之雨）
