A small ship that is capable of carrying military equipment can be used as a landing ship in other situation. It is intended for transportation of light equipment, such as light tanks Type 97 "Chi-ha", as well as trucks. The first model is armed with a 120mm Type 11 gun. The second model is armed with 25mm Type 96 anti-aircraft machine guns.
