- Daleview high school, 6:50 AM-

I finally slowed down in front of the school, I don't need a head trauma to go with my hour long run, and yes, I ran for an hour. The school had an old, decrepit look about it, but it was still functioning, walking in, I was greeted by the ever lingering smell of cafeteria food, which didn't sit well on my recently filled stomach.

Walking towards a hallway to my left, I saw a teenager about sixteen maybe, entertaining some girls with a glowing ball of fire on his hand, not as weird as it sounds, stay with me. I proceeded down the hall to the other side and turned right and walked towards the window and sat near it, and as if on cue, another teenager came down a hallway to my left and saw me and grinned and spoke.

"Hey Drew, didn't expect to see you here this early, cat woke you up again?" I shrugged in agreement, this boy's name was Larry, dressed in a T-shirt and pants with a bit of overweightyness, and he was about my age, seventeen really while I was eighteen, but that didn't stop him from busting a joke every now and then.

"Yeah," I answered, "I'm considering kicking her from my room when I sleep, getting annoying waking up to a fuzzy alarm clock."

Larry just answered my idea with a laugh, if someone else had laughed to that, I'd have punched them, but Larry here does it all the time, and he's my friend so I didn't bother. He said something but I didn't pay attention as a girl joined our little group de' tour, she was skinny, not bone skinny where you could see their ribs, but skinny enough to look fit without acting like it, dressed in a black jacket and jeans, I edged away slightly, I wasn't afraid or revolted, I just knew she has a little addiction for kicking people in the nuts, mine included, so I just wanted that extra distance from Sophia, the nut kicker.

"What the hell are you all on about this time?" Sophia asked, and Larry just laughed harder while I think my face reddened a bit.

"His cat keeps waking him up, he's just trying to get a good night's sleep and his cat just pounces on him, so sad really." Larry cackled, and then laughed even harder, while Sophia just smiled and added.

"I can give him a better night sleep." And proceeded over, possibly to kick me and Larry just managed to stop to make a oh no expression which stopped Sophia thankfully, but as I looked down the hall, I muttered,

"Oh great. We got a bit of company."

Larry and Sophia looked towards the entrance and I stood up, I knew this guy, Tyler Hiss, a really so called tough guy, but cried the instant he got hit with a stick.

"Well, well, well" Tyler hissed out "Look who we got, the gravity controlling blob who can't control his mouth, the fiery bitch, and the commoner, who only dresses like a damn hobo to disguise the fact he never changes."

I walked out with a small smile on me and let the words roll out of my mouth,

"How would you even know I didn't change? Are you actually spying me because you love me or something?"

Tyler reacted, well, like a Teenager would, but not exactly, his arm shot out, faster than the eye could see, and slammed me into the window behind me with a loud THUD!  I grunted as I looked down and saw Tyler's arm had quite literally, made the stretch and had swelled in size and covered my entire torso, keeping me pinned somewhat, I looked at Sophia and saw her eye's start turning red and I seized her arm, she looked at me with this expression I can only describe as somewhat maddening and psychopathic, and shot her a look of my own, and saw her calm down and eyes return to normal.

"Well, you want to keep cracking jokes wise man?"  Tyler sprayed out, my response was to grab his arm and yank it towards me, Tyler may have had more stretchy limbs, but that didn't stop me from pulling him towards me,  his arm rapidly returning to normal as he flew towards me, I reacted by stepping up and threw a punch in a downward motion, meeting the back of his neck with my fist and kept going until he hit the ground due to the force of my fist, and to keep him away, I tossed in a kick to the head that launched him across the hall and he got up, rubbing his face in defeat, I caught Sophia in a glance towards a black plastic surface on the wall and saw her flip Tyler the bird, Tyler managed to scuttle away then.

Okay, you're probably walking around in circles confused right now, so I might as well explain a lot of things here, first of all, I'm sure you gathered that we aren't exactly human, we're pretty much got super-powers, and it's more common than you think really, Sophia can control fire and regenerate, but the main problem is, I think that fire burns clothing, part of the reason I stopped her from trying to turn Tyler into a bacon sandwich, I didn't think she had a spare change of clothing. Larry is a gravity manipulator, which is awesome to sum it up quickly,  he can fling objects, change their gravity to a wall, or ceiling, or even to a certain object, he used it once to turn the entire school upside down, was quite fun. There is also a class based system here, anyone with more than two powers are officially classified as "Royalty" which is what Tyler is in, so he thinks he's privileged, anyone who has at least one unique power, such as Larry and Sophia here, are classified as "Normies"  basically run of the mill. And then you have me, known as a "Commoner" basically anyone with at least super strength and speed can get in, I just qualify, although I can regenerate and never get tired, though that is way more common than you think.

After Tyler's appearance, I decided to head down to class, the school's layout was simple, there are two tower's, with the gym and auditorium on opposite ends, and the classes are labeled with a three digit code, the first is a representation of what floor, the second is hall if at all, and the third is in what order, now the school is also teaching some things we'd all know like history, science, math and language arts, but they mostly specialize in super human abilities, and thankfully nothing happened on my way to class as the bell rang at 7:25, signifying the start of school.

- three hours, thirty minutes later-

I was walking down the hall near the cafeteria when I got blindsided by a tackle, as I was about to retaliate, I felt two arm's wrap around me and felt a familiar crush, I knew who this was.

"Hey Jessie," I muttered "Mind telling me why you keep blindsiding me with tackles that turn into hugs?"

I looked to my left and saw a girl, about my height and seventeen, she was blonde and was wearing somewhat tight-jeans (Hey, don't look at me like that) and a shirt with a jacket, she also wore a pendant similar to mine, we used to date, but before it got serious, we decided to stay friends, but the way she acts sometimes makes me question if we're just friends or something more…

"What don't you like it?" Jessie breathed out,

"I don't mind, I just keep getting surprised by it." I responded a bit out of breath, Jessie was one tough girl, with both super strength and psi-powers, I saw her one time pick up a guy and toss him in a open locker and shut it just for touching her inappropriately, and I actually talked to her right after that to.

"Well, then it's working." Jessie added while hugging a little harder, I was about to try and wiggle out when I heard a loud roar shook the hall, accompanied by a scream. As my head darted towards the direction, Jessie let go, thankfully.

As I looked, there was a giant, pink ape like thing attacking a couple inside the cafeteria, the guy practically ran out leaving the girl behind as the thing pinned her and seem to prepare to swipe her, or worse, before I knew what I was doing, I had taking my backpack off and tossed it to Jessie while telling her to hold it, dashing into the cafeteria, and picked up a chair yelling as I brought it to its head and turned the chair inside out, after I lifted it off, it lifted the paw off the girl and slashed me, throwing me across the cafeteria into the glass door I used to get in not too long ago, I felt the girl brush past me and got out, and I stood up, only one thought going through my head, if I didn't kill this thing, it would literally rampage and maul everyone or kill them, or I could die, it was then I saw the insanity in my plan, this thing literally threw me across the room like a ice cream cone, if I got hit again, I was probably doomed anyway, the next few seconds were precious and slow as I observed this thing.

It was even uglier up close; it had the appearance of a gorilla, just without the monkey behavior, all solid muscle, it walked like one, although it's hands had claws on them, the eyes were tiny and red, gleaming with a deadly intent, it roared and charged me and I prepared myself as it lunged towards me.
