As the woman stared at the blond woman reclining on the large couch in the room, Iris fast asleep with her head in he lap, she felt a twinge of pain. She could never raise the little angel as well as this young woman had done...but still..."She's happy here Ava, Cassie's given her the life she deserves. We both know that those that want us both dead would take Iris and hurt or kill her to make us suffer." John's voice was gruff, he too knew what had to be done...but the choice, ultimately, was Ava's.
"Do you really want to destroy their relationship and happiness by taking Iris with you?"
No, she didn't want that...though this would hurt her, her child was safer with John and Cassie. As she gazed at the two on the couch one last time, she turned to face John, staring into his brown eyes and with a small smile saying sweetly "No regrets, right?"
"Yeah" John agreed. And with that Ava left the Continental, bound for somewhere in the Southern Islands, she knew Iris would be happier this way.
The Choice...was worth it in the end.
