Alright you got me, i always draw his legs a bit long 
If you want him really short just ignore how long i've drawn his legs and draw them shorter, kay?

LoLWellz, this be a tutorial on how to draw Zim, and i'm very proud of it.
It's one of the only tutorials here that actually 'draw' it out for you so you can see how i do the stokes and stuff. Hopefully it'll be useful to some people or at least entertaining. I sooo sososo had so much more stuff i wanted to add in, but i got lazy on the last part plus i didn't want the file size to get any bigger 
Um, there's only music on the intro part and like two wavs throughout the rest, so not that much sound. The music is part of a fan made IZ song that someone made (i think it's called Bass Kittens: Invader Zim Techno Remix or something like that) which i downloaded.

I would call it cute, but that almost sounds like it must be very simple and elementary (redundant!). No, that was a pretty detailed tutorial. So it\'s like cute in a complex sort of way. Yes. Highly entertaining. Oh yeah, it it loaded real fast for me. ^^ When I clicked on the link, I was really expecting to learn to draw \"ader im\" though. So that was bit of a disapointment, but I got over it. I suppose invader zim isn\'t too bad. Though he doesn\'t hold a candle to ader im. ;\'p

Truly amazing. Have you ever seen any of Jhonen Vasquez\'s other work (I\'m going to go ahead and assume you know who Jhonen is)?
If not, go to a comic store and look for the titles \"Johnny the Homicidal Maniac\" \"Squee\" and \"I feel sick\" There are some other comics but I haven\'t bothered to find them.

Arr, that sucks. Well, i must admit your version of invader Zim is quite original. Here, perhaps this will help, go to google and type in either Squee or JtHm and you\'ll get snippets or even whole scanned comics!

I followed along. tryed to get it right. worked out okay. nice flash. you should do more, just like nonsence flash it\'d be cool. i love the show and all the characters on invader zim. damn those nickelodeon producers that cancelled the show T_T. i hate them that show was awsome. all my friends loved it...
ill stop crying and complaining now. But may i recommend a tutorial on Gir? that would be wonderful. It doesnt matter how big the file is or how long the steps are but it would be just as fun as this one.

I don't care if this was a daily fav, and I dont even care if its good. STOP COPYING OTHER PEOPLES STYLES. God damn it, I mean fan art is cool, but thats when you draw a character in your own style, who the hell wants to see billions of fanboys drawing the same stuff over and over. Firstly, I dont think I said it was good, I said I dont care if its good. Because good or not, if you had the tallent think you could be doing smething more worth while. People keep telling me that they become better by copying other people styles, but.. I just dont see it. Practice makes perfect, I dont think that involves copying. Im not saying cool as in fashionable, i mean good or bad. And when I say fanboy, I mean anyone whos enough of a fan to make a devart submission of someone elses work instead of their own, you wouldnt have made a tutorial of something you dont like.

Hey, I don't know about you, but I've met so many people who just about give up on art because they can't get it right, so they need help. This isn't like he's claiming Zim for his own- or the art style- and anyway, how do you think most artists get their start? I started out tracing! Its just like swimming- first you need a boat- tracing- then, you feel more sure of yourself and you need life jackets- tutorials- then, once you get confident enough to strike out on your own, you can start developing your own style! Most people aren't trying to steal someone's style- after all, you can't really do that- even if you trace. Darqx isn't breaking any rules, and she isn't lying to anyone. What's you problem, anyhow? Do you delight in insulting and putting down people or something?

Yea I do delight in it, but thats not what this is about, everyone says that copying helps people develop. And I just dont remember doing it, I mean sure I take ideas and styles even now, but I never did it that blatently. I honestly dont think you need to trace or do anything like that to get good. Practice makes perfect, copying doesnt.

You're insufferable. And just because you say that copying doesn't help, doesn't amke it true! I copied for years! It took me almost ten years of copying to find a style all mine own. Now it's mine. Mine, I tell you! As a matter of fact, I'm still no good at Zim. This tutorial is helping me, and... You know, you'd have something bad to say even if this was a tutorial made by Jhonen Vasquez the man himself, wouldn't you? Nobody asked you to complain and gripe and whine about how you don't like what someone is doing. Whomever did needs a wad of sawdust down their throat. And some Zoloft. *rolls eyes* For that matter, you need something better to do with your time than go around and nitpick at everyone you see that displeases you. God, it's a bloody good thing not every person does that! Go read a book, or attempt to draw a picture, or take a nap, for all I care, but you don't have to find something negetive to say about everyone's art.

I never said it was. But to think you take delight in causing others to question themselves, to doubt themselves, hell, you never know! You get the shit ripped out of you by not taking time to think how your comment might affect someone else. People don't just think; "Oh, he just has a different opinion, and that's ok with me." Sure, there might be some people who think that, I'm sure there are hundreds, but I don't happen to be a person who just sits by and watches someone insult my friends. I dont think I ever said anything that harsh. I offered a view. I never said it sucked, I never said they sucked. So no I dont think I was insulting your friend, even if I was.... do they realy need defending? I do take delight in making people realise the way they think might not be the right one, its about havng an open mind, being able t receive good and bad equaly, if all you can take is good criticism, give up in life, because Im not the first, last, or only person who is ever going to oppose you or any of your friends, not for the sake of opposing but just because I do. Are you serious? You honestly think people should stop trying to learn how to draw in other peopleβs styles because you donβt think itβs cool enough? To be blunt with you, Iβve not met a good cartoonist who hasnβt learned by drawing hundreds and thousands of pictures in other peopleβs styles. Hundreds of thousands of sheets of Wolverine, Spiderman, Superman, even Batman as seen by various artists. Dirge and Vasquez both draw in a more stylized fashion, but the same principal applies.
Iβm not a very good cartoonist, I havenβt gotten much further than stick men; Iβm a writer, but I do the same thing in writing. I write in my favorite authorβs voice when Iβm still struggling to find my own. Sometimes when I start writing a story, itβs their voice inside me I hear telling me the story, not mine. I find their voice more interesting, and I act secretarial and write their story for them. As I write more, my writing voice is slowly working itself out and developing its own accent. Iβm learning to write in my own style, but to reach it, I learned from reading and copying other peopleβs styles.
I wonder if youβd have the same problem watching someone copy the style of Renoir or Monet or Picasso or Van Gogh. I wonder if youβd whine so if someone painted in the tones of Velazquez or using the principles of da Vinci. I really donβt think so. I donβt even think youβd notice, but even if you did, I donβt think youβd complain.
We learn by following the footsteps of the people before us until weβre confident about wandering off on our own.

Your right, it is cool when JCV draws it because, well, its his style. And i admit to copying a style, although if you happened to notice i do it in my own way, so technically its a hybrid style. For one my Zim looks taller and he doesnt look exactly the way the Zim in the cartoon looks. I think that makes it sorta my style.
Besides, i\'m good at drawing Zim which is why i keep drawing him. So really i dont care whether you think me drawing Zim is cool or not. I like it.
Oh! And by the way, i\'m a fangirl not a fanboy, if you didn\'t know.

I'm a big Zim fan. A few things though. Zim isn't that tall and even though you had buttons so that people didn't get lost, I got lost in between when that guy said stuff. I couldn't tell what was going next. I'm a slow reader. Just a thought.

Even though I don't need to read a tutorial on how to draw ZIM, it's interesting to see him in other people's style and how they draw. I hope you don't mind though I didn't really read the text, I just had fun watching the animations XDDD
I dunno how you draw like that.. overlapping the lines. I can't sketch like that man XD I guess my sketches are really clean...
