Artemisias Cheekmarks represent the shortened form of the Greek letter lambda, which is very often used as a variable in programming languages.

Artemisia Butterfly was born as the second child of Queen Favenna and King Perseus and was born after their twin brother Phoebus. However, since the women in the Butterfly line inherit the magic, she became the second-born crown princess and heir to the throne of Mewni despite her status.
Artemisia discovered early on her natural feeling for electricity, inventions and how they worked. Without giving up hope, Queen Favenna tried to lure her daughter outside into the sun, into the garden and on adventures in the real world, but gave up when Artemisia was 12 years old and the girl hardly ever went outside.
Despite her clever, cheerful, polite and extremely regal manner, Artemisia was mostly absent-minded and even liked to leave high-ranking visitors standing when she had a new idea and wanted to test it without further ado. It was through her that technology blossomed in Mewni, much to the chagrin of her mother. She always had a good relationship with her twin brother Phoebus, although he had little understanding of her hobby (which probably applied to both equally), since he himself had other things on his mind as a squire and finally a knight.
Artemisia married her brothers best friend Sir Cei McKnight in 929 a.M. and finally gave birth to Princess Mecanica (933 a.M.) and Princess Elita in 937 a.M.
