Description
Joaquin Phoenix is a brilliant actor -- his performance in Gladiator was the first time I truly simultaneously hated and pitied a character I saw on screen. Such a good film with many strong performances.

Technique wise I built the skin tones differently than normal... instead of mixing a few skin tones for the piece on my palette and then using them to bulk out the piece (all originating from the same initial tone) - I used a few completely different mixes to try and push the colour values more and deeper... also almost everything was done with a number 2 bright brush instead of a number 1 round. I'm happy with the outcome overall.
