This is my City of Heroes character, Mighty Lad.

Unlike most games, CoH allows you to make wildly different characters. I literally can not get enough of monkeying around with the character creator. Some might say that I have a problem... if so, I suffer gladly.

(I made a new character today, in fact, because CoH gave me a free extra character slot for my game-playing anniversary.)

Mighty Lad, Adam Armstrong to his friends, is pretty clearly patterned after the golden age style of comic superheroes. For CoH players, he is an EM/WP tank, and so far one of my favorite tanks I've made.

In the game, players can travel to the future and to the past of Paragon City. (As well as parallel Earths. It's way cool.) I like to use the game lore to inform character backstories, so for Mighty Lad I riffed off of the ability to use the "Ouroboros portal" which allows players to travel back into the past of their character's history. This allows me to have a golden age character in the modern world. Very cake-and-eat-it-too, that time travel.

Mighty Lad won a costume contest held by the themed supergroups Gods of the Golden Age and Young Gods of the Golden Age. Really nice group of peeps, they gave me some cool swag. And fueled my desire to keep making characters.

He exists on the unofficial roleplaying server, Virtue. It's fun to "Get my Beav" on -- he's a teenager from the 1950s, so he says things like "Golly!" and "Gee willikers!" and "My my, a woman in pants!"
