Description
Fear swelled in Ink's heart as he ran deeper into the forest. Hot breath on his heels and growling filling his ears. All he wanted to do is go home but he had no idea where he was. All he knew was that his family were sleeping in some tree roots by a fast flowing river, and if he could just find that river then maybe he would be safe. Ink's muscles screamed at him to stop as he started running pass rubble, he dived for a pile hope to hide himself when he slipped and fell. Cold metal pirced his skin as he landed on the sharp thorny metal vine. Pain rushed through him and warm stickly blood oozed against ice cold metal. He started to push himself up slowly, instincts kicking in as his panic flooded his body, but it was too late. The black taby tom first heard a loud chomp as he felt hot breath next to his tail and then he heard his own ear splitting scream as the thorns raked down his body. The metal vine whipping him in to the air like a pebble and blood flooding from the gash. He landed on his side a distance away from the beast and heard yelping. Guessing that the beast also wasn’t expecting the sharp thorns of the metal vine. Ink took the time to think fast, forcing himself up and starting to charge off again.
After a moment or two he heard footsteps coming up close behind him and heard the growling of the beast once more.
Suddenly the scent of water washed over him and he headed towards it, the beast close behind. Soon the rushing of water filled his ears and then he saw it. The river. Digging deep, Ink pelted towards the river and then skirted its bank. As he ran, he called out for help, hoping someone would hear him. Ink continued to yell out as the beast nipped at his heels, adrenaline running through his veins. He soon heard answering shouts and saw a stream of dark pelted cats race towards him, recognizing them as his family, he ran faster towards the group of cats. Hot breath hit his heels again and in the panic of what would happen next Ink jumped to the side as the beast lunged, barely missing him. With out thinking his muscles reacted and he moved sideways landing his paws on a large rock that he then used to fling himself sideways and slammed into the beast’s side. The beast tripped and fell into the water, washed away by the current. Ink landed roughly on his side just on the ledge of the river bank.
Sand flew over him as his family skidded to haulers around him gasping for breath. His mother screamed as she saw the pooling blood and the family lifted him quickly and raced him to the forest colony.
