Description The original image from which this is made is a photograph of a sculpture made of books which i took 20 years or so ago in the Municipal Library of Prague.
Of the 9 squares here there are 3 different variations from the same image. But it's all made from one image but every square is different no two squares are the same.

Essentially it is made from books and if you read the same book more than once it seems different and if you read many books, then the stories within them begin to flow from one to the next and create new stories.

It's true of every kind of art, that no matter how many times we look at a piece of art or listen to a piece of music, there is always something new to find within it.
It's the same work of art... or is it?

What we see or hear in one thing changes what we see or hear in another.
From my experience in life and in art i continually realise that there are new ways to perceive everything.
Perhaps no work of art is ever finished. It just keeps on evolving. As do we.

Things do change with age as we do.
We are the same but different.
The words in a book may not change but the paper may change colour a bit or a lot. The spine may get creased pages may have folds in the corners of pages.

The words in the book may even change, it gets edited, mistakes corrected.

Everything changes even if we think it is the same.

Every person is a library in themselves. A unique collection of experiences. If a person spent their entire life reading the same book over and over and did nothing else, they would have as much to offer in terms of what they have learned as someone who had travelled the world or studied at the most prestigious university.
No one will ever know what you know in the way that you know it. In comparison with the most knowledgeable person on the planet you are the same but different. Not because of how many books you've read but because of the unique perspective of your experiences.

I like the idea that no person's experiences are more important than any others. Certainly some people have better experiences, others have worse ones. But they are all important.

We might believe that an older person would have more experience and we would benefit both as individuals and a society from listening to the experience of elders. Too many older people spend time alone talking to no one and feeling like a burden to society when they have so much wisdom to share.

Perhaps we should listen to children's ideas and experiences too as they are so vibrant and full of awe towards new exciting experiences. No one can teach us more about imagination than children.

Humans have been on this planet for a very long time and many things have changed, but surely we are not that different from people hundreds or even thousands of years ago. We have very different experiences but we are essentially the same.

We like to think that we know a lot more now. But surely people knew a lot of things that we don't know now and perhaps many of the things that we know now are not very important at all. Like details of the lives of celebrities and how fast the earth is spinning on it's axis.

What is important is that people all have unique experiences but we are not so very different from each other.

Perhaps our experiences are more important than anything else that we have. Equally important. Surely no one's experiences are more important than anyone else's. That is a crazy idea that stems from the lack of respect that we have for each other.
