BAD. ASS.!!! I love this design - the use of brushes on the creature, the setting (complete with geysers For the Win!!!), and the overall lighting and sense of scale are just great!
My only suggestion would be to perhaps try glories (rainbow rings) where you've placed the white ones. They may provide that final snap that pushes this piece over the finish-line...

Good call. Never heard them called Glories before. I like that. I did consider it and came to the conclusion that it might interfere or compete with the body too much. I'll keep playing with it. Thanks for the advice.

Glad I could be of help. Let me know if you have trouble finding pictures of glories - they're usually projected on cloudtops around the shadows of airplanes.
